Beautiful building and setting!

The pros: The venue is beautiful, perfect for weddings. There was a wedding whilst I was there, and it looked fantastic. It was easy to get to from the old roan train station. Maybe 15-20mins walk. It was comfortable. Breakfast served at 8 was good and what was needed. There's a nice bar and restaurant to relax. The staff were helpful and very friendly. You could also chat with them which was good. The cons: It was difficult to work the shower. It all operated from the taps from the bath and the warm water tap was loose, so it was difficult to set a comfortable heat. The taps were loose on the bath too, I turned them worrying I might pull them loose from the bath. The plug in the bath doesn't come loose either, so the water from my shower filled the bath and I had no means of emptying it. All of the lights and appliances were switched on, so when I came in and put my card in its slot everything switched on. Which is fine, but it was frustrating as I arrived back in my room late at night just wanting to go to bed and I had to work out which switches switched off which appliances. The most frustrating of these was the light on the mirror, the switch for which for whatever reason is on the other side of the room. The elevator does not work very well. The doors are very slow and juttery opening and closing and gave me nerves that I'd be stuck in the elevator. As an alternative the stairs I assume are hidden somewhere I didn't see them.

Great little stopover accommodation. Clean and comfortable for a few nights stay. Well located as a base to explore the north west with easy access to Southport and the surrounding area.
