If you think the description of this property sounds good. Trust us. It's ever better.
If you are looking to have a wonderful place to stay where you can experience Australia all around you, this is the place. Kangaroos in the yard, birds singing in the trees, a magnificent view across a largely undisturbed valley.
The hosts provides everything you need for a comfortable stay, plus a lot of unexpected amenities. They are right up the hill from you if you need anything...and a million miles away if you don't. The cottage has so much unique character.
It's just hard to say enough nice things about our stay at Harley cottage.
A magical place to unwind for a week. Quiet and peaceful. Hartvale Cottage has rustic charm and yet inside has been planned to perfection. I could live there permanently. Jennifer and Peter were wonderful hosts. Jennifer was waiting for us on arrival to show us around. A generous breakfast basket was waiting for us in the kitchen as well as a lovely bottle of wine. Little Hartley is away from the hustle and bustle but conveniently close to everything. We ventured out every day to do all the treks and sight seeing, but honestly couldn’t wait to return to Hartvale Cottage. The local residents (kangaroos, ducks and birds) entertained us every day. Jennifer has a wonderful garden and art studio which she happily showed us. We look forward to returning to Hartvale Cottage to experience it in a different season. Thank you for having us.
Absolutely wonderful in every way. The property is gorgeous with big picture windows looking out across the valley, beautiful furnishings and bedding with a tremendous eye for style and design. It’s spacious well stocked with whatever you need, has lovely sitting spaces on outside verandahs, special places to sit under trees and a lovely garden to wander around in and admire. Big bath, great shower, and even morning and evening kangaroo visitors. Thanks for wine bread and eggs. Absolutely fabulous peaceful place to stay. We were sorry to leave.
The cottage was gorgeous. So comfy and cozy, and all the little touches made it so welcoming. The host was lovely and so helpful - definitely recommend it for a relaxing getaway.
The cottage is quaint with beautiful views. Was a lovely place to relax in
The property was everything and more.
The only let down was the lack of towels only one each for 3 nights apart from that we were thrilled with the place

A beautiful cottage with a calming wonderful outlook. We did venture out to see the blue mountains but found it hard to leave the cottage. Perfect getaway. Hosts were fabulous.
This is by far the best place to stay in the Blue Mountains. The quality of this place is so high. I guarantee you will walk in a feel a sigh of relief. Great base to explore the area and great to just relax in too. Host is so generous and kind too. If you’re looking for a place to stay in the Blue Mountains go no further.
Beautiful cottage fully equipped with everything you will need. Nice quiet area with beautiful views through the large picture window. Fire made the cottage toasty on a very cold couple of nights. Jen is a great host who greeted us with a breakfast hamper and a fire already burning. Highly recommend.
We were more than impressed with this property. Hosts were lovely. Everything was as described.
We couldn’t have been happier. This is such an amazing property. The hosts were so accomodating. Everything for chutney to fresh flowers- Even ice cream drumsticks were awaiting us when we arrived. The fireplace was roaring upon arrival setting the ambiance. We couldn’t fault anything and appreciated the privacy , Peace and quiet and perfect accomodation.
Just Perfect.
I already had high expectations coming onto this property, but they were exceeded! We were very kindly greeted by the host, who had stocked the house with some delicious breakfast and food items (a very generous and personable touch). The house was very clean and spacious, plus minimalistic and beautifully decorated. The view was absolutely gorgeous, with the mountains, meadows, and autumnal trees. We felt so lucky to wake to that view everyday. The host was just a text away, offering us electric blankets and anything we needed. The house itself was very close to all the major sights, so was convenient. Highly recommend: it was the most perfect peaceful home!
This new property presented us with a much needed perfect country escape. We have stayed in many different places around the Blue Mountains, but Hartvale Cottage is truly special. We spent 5 nights at this uniquely built little cottage, and could not have asked for a lovelier location, more comfortable lodgings, or more amenable and lovely hosts. It is quiet - located away from the highway with magnificent views of the escarpments and rolling farmlands. Jen greeted us and showed us all the cottage had to offer, including a fantastic combustion woodfire, plush king size bed, full bath, well-equipped kitchen, comfy lounges, books, games, amazing original artwork by Jen herself, fresh flowers from Jen's gardens and enough supplies of food to provide delicious breakfasts during our stay! (Jen's homemade jam and chutney were a lovely treat) The cottage overlooks 5 acres of green lawns and trees with a little dam, where you will see families of kangaroos, ducks and other birdlife visiting daily. The cottage gardens are a riot of colour and busy with bees and butterflies - you can arrange with Jen to explore the main garden with Jen also if you are a gardening aficionado. We would heartily recommend this accommodation for couples needing a recuperative retreat to recharge their batteries. The location and set-up is also 100% Covid safe, which we appreciated. We will return (hopefully will get time to pull out the watercolours next time)! Thank you so much Jen and Peter for your attention to detail, for sharing your gorgeous property, and for your warm welcome.
Jennifer was an awesome host and the Property was amazing. Would recommend anyone to stay if you are passing through.
I'd just proposed to my girlfriend and stayed the weekend here.
Words can not really describe my stay at this amazing and breathe taking cottage
The host made it very easy from booking right through to check out.
This place is the right place for pure stillness, relaxation, view and just breathing and feeling alive again away from work and busy everyday life. A place to just remind you that we need to stop and breathe and live not to just exist. I'm differently coming back.
Thank you Jennifer
This is a beautiful place to stay and unwind. It is picture perfect, and the attention to detail in the cottage is mind blowing. It is luxurious with high end bedding and the best window to sit in front of with the log fire going. Kangaroos jump past and there is an abundance of birds. Beautiful gardens and very generous hosts.
