  • I took this in March in Sintra, Portugal! It's at the fairy tale castle Pena Palace :). This is one of the lovely close-up views. It's is a Romanticist castle that stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains. And undoubtedly one of the most iconic places in Portugal. And a dream come true to visit it! It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. It is also used for state occasions by the President of the Portuguese Republic and other government officials. Thanks to Wikipedia for help ;).

This is an old house that got converted into a hotel. It's very beautifully decorated with nice furniture and accessories. The room we rented is a 2 twin beds bedroom. It's very nice but the shower is quite tiny.

Great place and great hospitality. The only mishap was we booked a car thru them for return to airport. We understood they were to pick us up at 6 am. They were a no show and at 6:30 am we had to make a decision. And fortunately we were able to get an Uber.

Go there NOW!

We were welcomed by the most incredible host.... and I mean host as he was incredibly friendly and focussed on our guest experience. His name, I think was Rui. On the other hand, the woman who was “ on duty” both nights when we arrived home from dinner was indifferent and bordered on rude when we asked for water. The hotel itself is lovely, big rooms, high ceilings with big opening windows, but bring your earplugs as it is noisy throughout the night. ( it is Europe!) breakfast was brilliant with self serve buffet complete with wide range of food choices. Excellent endless coffee machine😁. In the end, I would definitely recommend. ( and ❤️ Rui!). And Outstanding LOCATION!!!

This was one of the most unique places I have ever stayed in. It made our trip to Sintra even more magical. This place will not be for everyone but we loved it. The quirky decor, the lovely garden, great breakfast, and the location made it perfect for us.

Belle demeure magnifiquement entretenue, bien située à quelques pas du centre historique de Sintra. Une hospitalité sans faille avec de multiples attentions aux détails qui font la différence avec les usines à touristes. Le seul bémol c'est l'incroyable rue étroite à souhait, en forte pente, en sens unique mais ils n'y sont pour rien. Pour les personnes à mobilité réduite, le site pourrait mentionner un accès difficile, mais le jeu en vaut la chandelle...Il y a une chambre en rez de chaussée haut (quelques marches). les autres sont en étage. Établissement très déconseillé pour les fauteuils roulants.

Sintra house

The place was charming, location was excellent. No air conditioning in centuries old home which didn’t need it with windows open BUT, A lot of standing water on property cause Mosquito invasion in our room which kept us up most of the night. So bring big spray in summer. The morning host was not very accommodating as she reeked of cigarette smoke, busy smoking instead of tending to guest at breakfast. Overall, if you are there to explore the town, the place was excellent for the location!

Nice place - hard to find.

After a 29 hour trip to get to Portugal, we arrived on a rainy day in Sintra and had difficulty navigating and finding this location - GPS helped but needed additional verbal directions from locals to finally get there. The room was comfortable and the hospitality was great.
