The place was very nice, open floor plan , very clean, and great views.. There was only 2 of us so didn't need such a big home, I totally recommend for a big family though!! The caretakers were great, and the owner was willing to do anything to make our stay enjoyable!! Great guy !!…

A wonderful and peaceful Bahamian Experience on Cat Island!…

Let me say that Nick and his wife have a wonderfully unique property and that our vacation was one of the best ever. The large property the house sits on offered us morning walks around the many paths and trails on the property, and due to the elevation there were awesome water views from various points that were a wonderful surprise. The home itself is VERY spacious and easily handled our crew of 5 people. Being solar we had to think about turning off lights and managing our electricity use, but we never felt restrained in any way. the rear deck is shaded in late afternoon and made it an excellent place to relax with a Kalik after a day exploring the beaches nearby. Which bring up the property's best feature, access to a private (private because there is no other way to get there) beach that is long and beautiful and very walkable. The waters off this beach alternate between clear sand and various rocks and dips and makes a great snorkeling area. Cat Island beaches are blessed with a strip of hard sand beside the water that makes walking a pleasure (we did not find beaches like this on previous trips to Long Island and Exuma). Nick gracefully answered all our questions and directed us to some other very special places. The grocery store in Orange Creek is only about 10 minutes away and was well stocked for our needs. Shanna's Cove resort at the bottom of the hill provided a very close by dining/bar experience and two great Local eating spots (Yardies and Kizzies) are about 20-25 minutes from the property. Thank you again Nick for making our stay a very special one! Couple of tips-buy Liquor near the New Bight airport (Nicked picked us up at the airport and stopped for a quick shop for groceries and liquor)-there are no liquor stores on the north end of the island. 6 Bed/4 Bath Oceanfront Home With Fully Equipped Kitchen

Great front deck…

We (three families totaling 9 people) enjoyed the ability to be able to walk to the fish dock, grocery stores, and restaurants. Not to mention being able to dunk in the water at a moments notice. The house easily held all 9 of us for sleeping and eating. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking our own meals. There were plenty of beach toys and towels when we traveled to other beaches. The house was very clean for our arrival and a big thanks goes out to Portia for staying out late to greet us and familiarize us to the house. Our late arrival was due to agreed upon vehicles not showing up at the airport. We made arrangements with Stanton Cooper with Sunshine Rentals far in advance, then reconfirmed with him 3 weeks in advance. He assured us at that time that everything was confirmed. We had asked for 2 SUVs, but ended up with an overpriced run down van. This kept us from going to some beaches we were hoping to visit. Do NOT trust him! Having said that, I must say the highlight of our evenings was sitting out on the front deck, where we were even dry during an evening thunderstorm. Though the house was clean and well stocked, it did not have a good traffic pattern to access all parts of the house. We never did hang out in the 2nd living room. The two refrigerators were a welcome addition- we used the second one for cold drinks. The worst part of our stay was the sand fleas one no seeums. We never did find an effective repellent. My wife and I had the opportunity to stay at this wonderful home. It's almost new to the rental market, and we were glad this home has been opened for visitors. While we have also stayed on Banks Road, we found the location of this house perfect. Just south of Governor's Harbor, and just 15 minutes north of Rock Sound, the house is in a quiet location, a short distance off the Queens Highway. We visited Lighthouse Beach, French Leave Beach, Whiteroad Beach, and the beaches around Winding Bay, and basically were always alone for miles in either direction...exactly what we have come to love about Eleuthera. We visited Tippy's one afternoon and had a great meal. We found other little, out of the way places, but really enjoyed the meals at the house. We were disappointed the bakery near Pineapple Fields had closed. Sharon, who assists with the house, was outstanding. She helped us get the car at the airport (a better version of what we normally see), she brought vegetables from her garden, provided snorkeling equipment, beach chairs and an umbrella, etc. She's also a wealth of information on where to go and what to see on that part of the island. Ask her about where to get fresh fish on the dock, and also stone crabs. They were the best. The owners provided new furniture on the side patio, and we enjoyed that patio each morning. The weather was beyond perfect everyday. Hummingbirds visited the flowers around the patio every morning, you just have to wait and watch. The plantings around the house reflected the care the owners take of the house, and were also something we enjoyed as part of the stay. Anyone who knows the island realizes getting home goods and electronics to the island is a challenge, so this new rental will only get better with time.
