My husband and I stayed at the Delaware Hotel for just one night last weekend, but it was more than memorable. I called ahead and asked for a room on the 2nd floor due to my husband's health condition since there is no elevator. I also mentioned that it was our 35th anniversary. I acknowledged that old hotels have small rooms, but I was hoping for something bright. When we checked in we were greeted by Julissa at reception. She said she was the person that I had spoken to the day before and wished us a happy anniversary. When we got to our beautiful and bright room there was a vase of roses waiting for us wishing us a happy anniversary. The only thing the room was missing was a second table lap, so that both sides of the beds had lamps, and the reception desk quickly brought an additional lamp. When we headed out the door on Saturday to tour town we stopped by the desk to thank Julissa for the lovely flowers. We asked her about the "haunted history" of the hotel and she provided both ghost stories as well as detailed history of the hotel. The hotel is beautifully maintained with antique pieces and modern comforts. We will be back!

This place has seen its better days. Desperate need of an update in the decor in the common areas as well as the room. Seems like the clock stopped in 1964. Food in the restaurant was good.

Reading other reviews I’m not sure what folks expect or if they realize the effects of altitude. The Delaware is a quirky old hotel with loads of charm in an historic mining town. It is clearly getting a lot of love and attention from its current owners/caretakers. We walked everywhere and loved being right on the Main Street. We did not find our room or date of stay to be loud at all. But yes, the floors are wonky in places, our bathroom was small (but in the room!), and the room would probably be quite warm in the summer. We tossed and turned all night - that wasn’t the bed - it was the altitude. Staff was wonderful - the hotel bar perfection! I needed an iron, asked, and received. Things to be aware of: 1. No elevator. 10,000 altitude. Steeper than modern stairs. 2. No coffee/microwave in the room - coffee in the hall and it was very good! 3. Read the list of amenities - bring a hair dryer! 4. Ghosts. 5. This is Leadville, Colorado - not an urban center. I wouldn’t compare it to a boutique hotel in downtown Seattle or a renovated historic property like the Empress in Victoria.

Loved staying at the Delaware Hotel! Check-in/check-out was super easy. Me and my friend had a great time and loved what a short walk it is from tons of great coffee shops, restaurants and bars. Definitely would stay there again.
