Water (COLD) in this cabin comes from a hand pump and there are no shower facilities. Rustic, secluded, fire pit! 4x4 or snow tires are recommended in winter. Enjoy over 700 square ft of coziness! The screened in porch welcomes you to this cabin on the Hersey Creek. The main floor has a kitchen with a hand pump for water, counter top oven, hotplate, flattop, and crock pot are available for cooking, electric kettle for heating water, coffee maker, mini fridge, and a table that seats four. The living room has comfy chairs and a convertible sofa as well as a wood stove. The space Upstairs a bunkbed and one twin bed as well as a full size bed are snuggled into a spacious area which has a sliding door wall and porch overlooking the creek. Like to spend time writing, drawing, or even, working? There are two separate desks both with natural light in addition to the light from the door wall. Wake-up to the view of deer or wildlife stopping by the creek for a drink. Enjoy the new screened in porch with a clear roof for lots of sunlight. Able to sleep a total of 7, Mother Lodge is also perfect for a couple or a solo journey. Mother Lodge has electricity, an indoor toilet and tub (but no running water, buckets are provided), hand pump for water (sole source) from the kitchen, wood-burning stove for heating, and a large screened-in porch. Forgot the marshmallows? Reach out, we have most everything you need in a pinch. The fire pit also overlooks the creek and is perfect for a relaxing evening. Wi-fi is available upon advanced request. Please get in touch before your visit if you want to use the wi-fi hot spot. An additional $20 charge may apply As an Eco-spiritual retreat center, we encourage our guests to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Walk the trails or labyrinth on our 35 acres or those on the neighboring 90 acres. We share the opportunities to wander with our friends to the south MorningStar Retreat center for a seamless experience for our guest and theirs. Please stay on trails and keep pets leashed! A large labyrinth, spirit wheel, and wailing wall are also on the neighbor\`s property to the south. Acres of woods, creek, gardens and places to wander await you. The Fred Meijer White Pine Linear State Park is only a few steps away an is a paved \`Rails to Trails\` pathway of over 90 miles stretching from Grand Rapids to Cadillac. Plan a bike excursion and stay here along the way! Guest access We\`re located about 3/4 mile down a dirt two track road. Parking is available in front of the cabin in the circular driveway. Four wheel drive or snow tires are recommended in winter. Other things to note We trust that as you make the choice to join us for a time of retreat, you recognize that there are inherent risks to being in the wilderness and to retreating in simple, rustic cabins. It is your responsibility to take the necessary precautions and use wise judgment while in the cabins and on the land. In addition, the cabins and land have been tended and held as sacred space for over three decades to serve those seeking healing, wholeness, and love. Angie and Izzy were a delightful welcome and I enjoyed walking the labyrinths on the property. Nice creek and surrounding woods. The trails were nice however there are a lot of big trees down and we had to climb over many of them- don’t venture there if you have limited physical abilities. Even if deep in the woods there were no mosquitoes!! The biggest draw back is how smelly the toilet/ sewer system was. Overall it was an awesome place to disconnect and relax. This was for a girls weekend with my best friend who moved to the UP. We needed a meeting place and this tiny cozy cabin was perfect. She has an injured shoulder so using the hand pump was difficult for her. We loved this place right down to the mouse droppings. We had to flush the toilet by dumping buckets of water into it . There was no microwave even though it was miles from anywhere to pick up food so you couldn't heat anything up .. you had to get up every few hours to put wood in the stove so we had no heat the next morning. I thought the place was awesome and for the price a great value. Think the owners could charge double. I love rustic and this was right up my alley, spent about 90% of our time in the screen in front purch, it was the highlight of my stay. The property was well kept and you can tell a lot of love is put into it. My wife however and both my kids got sick while there on our 5 day stay, so a lot of the rustic chores pertaining water/bathing/flushing the toilet/doing dishes became sore point with her cause it was a bit overwhelming, not what she's use too. It was also constant struggle trying to keep our toddler from getting into all the knickknacks in the cabin. If I was to return, I'd probably just go by myself or with my older child who doesn't try to destroy everything they touch, lol. The rest of the property was great exploring when I got away from taking care of my 3 sick family members who were only well enough to leave the cabin twice during our stay. Exploring the creek was relaxing and walking the path leading to the larger labyrinth was soothing to my soul. I also was able to capture some great nature sounds (creek, cicadas, campfire & thunderstorms) on my field recorder for my ambient sound YouTube channel. Anyhow, I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys the same things I do. If you need air conditioning and running water to be happy, I'd leave those people at home. ##### Frederick H. Not only is the place charming and the hospitality above standards, it is also a surprising place to self reflect. So peaceful, so honey and comfortable! We spent hours meandering their trails. Everything is done well and right, you feel like your walking into your log cabin not renting one. Highly recommend for a peaceful serene getaway. It was nice to step back and reconnect with them and force them to use their imaginations. The cabin was beautiful and Krista put so many personal little touches on everything, it truly shows how much she cares about the property and the people staying on it. There is nothing that I could say bad about this property it was amazing and I would 10/10 recommend to everyone who wants to take a break from technology for a few days and reconnect with their family or themselves. ##### Shane D.
