It is only a 8 minute walk to the railway station, a two minute walk to the pub and near several restaurants in the neighbourhood. The ski bus stops just opposite to the building. The Winter Jungfrau pass allows free bus and trains rides in the area. The proprietor is at your disposition to give details of the area, or other tips or ideas about all the things to do during your vacation. sticks are also available. 3D HD TV and Blue Ray 3D Home Cinema I Pod docking are available. For the active holidaymaker you can enjoy activities such as skiing, snowboarding, snow-shoe trekking, sledging, para gliding, curling and skiing. However for the more sedate there are reduced price passes for non skiers so that you can enjoy the fabulous scenery or meet up for lunch. The revolving restaurant at the top of the Schiltorn should not be missed and further afield there are lovely shops and cafes in Grindelwald. It is also possible to take a boat ride on the two lakes. for skiers we an get 10 per cent discount ski rent charges . Lauterbrunnen in Spring / Summer:: In Spring / Summer Lauterbrunnen is an excellent base for exploring the Jungfrau region. You can take the train up to Jungfraujoch (the highest railway and restaurant in Europe) or the cable car to Schiltorn/Piz Gloria, film location of James Bond. There are hiking and cycle paths for all abilities, the Eiger trail or a gentle stroll along the Lauterbrunnen valley, via Gimmelwald and Stechelberg. Or take bikes up to Murren and cycle back down to Lauterbrunnen. Local folklore festivals, flag throwing and dancing displays take place in the summer months. Food is an important part of staying in the mountains. Excellent local produce such as cheese, hams and bread are all available locally. The lakes and Interlaken are only 8 miles away, with several beaches around the lake, as well as the swimming pool in the village there are plenty of opportunities for swimming, water sports and boat rides in the two lakes of Thun and Brienz. The location is perfect, with unbeatable views of the waterfalls, especially from the two big balconies (one of them faces the falls directly, and it’s just stunning!). The place was clean, cozy, and had a real homey feel that made us feel so comfortable. Agustine, the host, was super helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. Although we spent most of our days traveling throughout Switzerland, the location of this property is amazing! The view from the balcony is amazingly beautiful!! It's a good size with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen is well stocked with a great breakfast nook and living room. The highlight though are the balconies, one having a view of Staubachfalls. The owner, Augustine, is communicative and helpful. People will often say, I'd come back and it feels cliche. Thanks to our host Augustine who was very helpful and always available to answer any enquiries and made it such a great stay. Thoroughly recommend this property and host. Such a beautiful location in which to spend the night. Our host was very responsive, more responsive than I was to him (sorry about that, Augustine.) My daughter and I loved taking early morning strolls to visit the sheep and cows while grabbing coffee at the nearby coffee cart. The washer and dryer were high quality and always seemed to be available when I wanted to use them even though the whole building was using them too.Yes, this is an apartment. You can hear the neighbors next to you and above you. I'm a very light sleeper, so I slept in the room with two twin beds, which seemed to be the furthest from the church. From there I could not hear the church bells at all. The people sleeping in the two other bedrooms could hear the church bells, but it did not bother them. Mind you, the church bells ring every 15 minutes during the day (I know!! omg). They only mark the hour at night.Other things: Speedy Wi-Fi, great water pressure, reserved parking, easy walk to train hub, easy walk to grocer, great Nespresso (but bring your own pods (can get from grocer). Everybody in town speaks perfect English -- except the grocer. Use Augustine's train ticket discount card. Trains are so expensive!!Would 100% stay here again. ##### Sue L. The kitchen is well stocked and the apartment is very clean. Augustine is very helpful with suggestions and communication is easy. Some observations: - As noted by another reviewer the church bells ring all night on the hour. Earplugs are strongly recommended to ensure a good night's sleep, especially when it is 30 degrees and the windows are open. -The washer/dryer is not in the apartment but in the building and shared by all the tenants. Additionally, you are only allowed 1 wash/dry per week which is not stated in the listing. I specifically chose this rental because it had a washer/dryer and as I was traveling with 2 young children knew I would need to do more than one wash/week. I reached out to Augustine who let me do 3 washes rather than 2 (I stayed for 13 days). -I would encourage all renters to work with the Tourist Information Office to pay the VAT as some confusion exists over the amount due and method of payment. ##### Susan S. This was everything described in the listing and MORE! The views and proximity to the falls were so relaxing. Very clean and everything you need to make Lauterbrunnen your base to explore the region. The home cinema setup was fun and relaxing to unwind each night. Very accessible to the train station, shopping, restaurants, bike rentals, and sights.
