Nothing! Property was dirty and had a terrible mildew smell

We are from Canada, we pay a greater amount for all travel than many other countries, maybe we are setting our standards too high. We believe the staff are doing the best they can with what they have to work with. We understand tourism in this area is down up to 40% and the funds aren’t available for overall property maintenance but basics and standards can still be met. Our experience at this hotel has been extremely disappointing. The level of cleanliness, maintenance, hygiene, and service is simply unacceptable. The pools, and hot tubs are slimy, green and you cannot see to the bottom. They did not clean the main pool until we made comments. The mold/musty odor in our room is extremely strong, particularly at night. It is so bad that we had difficulty sleeping and woke up with a sore throat. This has seriously affected our comfort and enjoyment of our stay. One of the chairs in the dining area of our room has visible mold. The dining area is also poorly maintained. The chairs appear to have mold, and the curtains are dirty and in poor condition. Even more concerning, one morning at the breakfast buffet, we found visible mold on the sliced bread. Food with visible mold should never be available for guests to consume. The staff removed the two slices but not the entire loaf of slices. There is also a water leak directly outside of our room. We had a woderful time staff was great and food excelent, a bit pricy

We recently stayed at The Club at Solaz Resort to celebrate my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary with our group of 15. We were excited to celebrate together, but unfortunately, our experience at Al Pairo was disappointing. One staff member told our group to be quiet, even though we were simply having a normal conversation and there was essentially no one nearby. We were seated spread apart from one another, so a group of 15 naturally needs to speak at a normal volume to communicate. We were not being disruptive or disrespectful; we were celebrating a very special family occasion. Because of how the situation was handled, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else. Thankfully, the rest of the resort staff and management were wonderful. Once they learned what happened, they went above and beyond to make things right. They generously arranged for us to enjoy the most beautiful beach cabana, completely complimentary, including food and beverages. This thoughtful gesture turned a disappointing moment into a memorable part of our trip. We truly appreciated the way management handled the situation and the kindness shown by the rest of the staff. One unfortunate interaction did not define our stay. In the end, we really enjoyed our time at the resort and left with wonderful memories of celebrating our parents’ 50th anniversary. Every stay can have a hiccup, but what matters is how it is handled—and management certainly stepped up when it counted.
