About 15 min drive to downtown Joshua Tree. ⦾1 bedroom/1 bath ⦾2x Minisplit A/C unit, in living room & bedroom ⦾ Sleeper sofa + trundle bed (2 twins) ⦾ Fully gated property & dog friendly (more info below) ⦾ Full kitchen with dishwasher ⦾ 25 mbps Wifi & Smart Roku TV with apps ⦾ Private hot tub under the stars Welcome to our much-loved desert cabin! This is an original 1950s cabin with refinished original hardwood floors yet with lots of modern upgrades for a comfortable and cozy getaway. For our summer guests: We have two A/C units, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. I have stayed here in 114 degree heat and it has still been cool and comfortable inside. We just added a water misting system for the front porch and hot tub in the backyard. We are available through the app or phone any time during your stay and also have local contacts available as well for any on-site emergencies. We're located in Landers, just about 15 minutes north of downtown Joshua Tree, 7 minutes to the Integratron, 10 minutes to La Copine Restaurant, 30 min to JT Park West entrance. 4 adults max per reservation--we allow up to 5 for families with small children. Guest count must be accurate on reservation to see the correct pricing. Easy keyless entry with Nest lock. Exterior gates can be opened with a keypad or you can borrow a remote to keep with your during your stay (MUST be returned when you leave). KITCHEN: High-quality Cuisinart stainless steel and All-Clad nonstick cookware and bakeware, cooking utensils, Keurig with pods, drip coffee maker with filters, coffee bean grinder, compact rice maker and slow cooker, waffle maker, blender, etc., vintage Russell Wright dinnerware, compact Bosch dishwasher (please only run when full, and if possible in the evening), mint green Smeg 2-door refrigerator/freezer, breakfast/coffee bar with solid walnut counter, black marble sill for your drinks and desert views BEDROOM: features a very plush Aireloom Palazzo queen bed with premium West Elm/Hotel Collection/Restoration Hardware linens. Corner windows provide natural light, but have blackout shades for late mornings (please note they're not 100% blackout as some light will come in around the edges). LIVING ROOM: West Elm trundle sofa. You can remove the back cushions easily for a comfortable twin bed on the couch, plus you can pull out the bottom of the sofa for an extra twin trundle bed below. Please use provided mattress protector over sofa if setting it up as a bed. We also provide a child's cot and pack n play crib upon request. INFO ABOUT PETS: Dogs must be pre-approved before booking (please provide age, size, breed, etc.) to make sure they're a good fit for our place. There is a $50 pet fee per dog per reservation ($50 fee applies weekly for bookings of 7 days or longer). Please note no dogs on furniture and dogs cannot be left alone in the house at any time. There is doggie daycare for $18/day at Blue Barn Ranch or $30/day at Joshua Tree Pet Resort. We have refinished hardwood floors and ask you ensure your dogs have trimmed nails before they arrive that will not scratch them. Our property is fully fenced, HOWEVER dogs should be supervised outside at all times as small dogs might be able to fit through our fencing, or there could be places where other animals have dug underneath or created holes in the fence--we cannot guarantee your pet will not be able to get out of the fenced area, you are responsible to watch them at all times. There are coyotes and other wild animals in the area so dogs should never be let out alone after dark. Washer/dryer (free) access only for stays over 5 nights OUTDOOR AMENITIES: We have a sitting area in back with firepit and charcoal grill with BBQ tools. Please note we do not provide firewood or charcoal--they can be purchased at any local grocery store. If we have some there you are welcome to use it, but we don’t guarantee we will supply it or replenish if it runs out during your stay. If you are coming for a long stay and would like a lot of firewood, our neighbor can give you a quote to deliver. The backyard motion sensor light can be turned on or off inside the house--keeping it off is better for clear nights when you want to see the stars. The front porch has two chairs, misters, as well as some twinkle lights. HOT TUB: No glass around or in hot tub, we have plastic cups provided. Please place hot tub cover on wood surround or rocks below, not on the ground/dirt. Please rinse off in the shower and wipe dirt/sand off your feet before entering hot tub. All 4 buckles on the cover must be secured when not in use—it gets very windy here and the cover could easily blow away. Hot tub can be used any time, but please respect our neighbors and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm. \*\*\*Please note our hot tub gets serviced weekly on Fridays between 10am-2pm\*\*\* TV/INTERNET: We have a Roku TV with basic live channels as well as typical smart apps. Our wifi is 25 down/5 up and we typically actually get those speeds on our tri-band mesh network with coverage both inside and outside the house. I have been able to watch streaming TV plus use my laptop to work at the same time without any issues. However please note when it gets especially windy, the internet can go in and out. We have added a laser printer which you can use if connect to WiFi, prints black & white only. We will do our best to supply printer paper but cannot guarantee we will have it. Please note we are in the desert! We have lots of nature around us and you will see some bugs and critters during your stay. We recommend keeping doors closed at all times whenever possible to prevent bugs from getting in. We have eco-friendly bug spray provided. There are animals and sharp desert plants on the property which could be dangerous to pets, children, or even adults. Guests exploring the property or letting their children/pets wander around the property do so at their own risk. If you drive off of the gravel areas of the driveway, you could get stuck in the sand if your car does not have 4-wheel drive. We recommend to only drive and park on the areas with the gray rocks. As we are in an area where water is an especially precious resource, please be mindful of running the dishwasher or washing machine only when it's full, and if possible at night when the energy costs are lower. No electric car charging--if you charge your car or use any energy heavy equipment you will be charged an additional $50/day, or for actual cost of the extra usage above our average daily use, whichever is higher. This is a high fire hazard area, use of the firepit or smoking outside must be done with extreme care. Any fires in the firepit and cigarette butts must be fully extinguished. It can get quite windy is this area, so we do not recommend leaving anything outside that could blow away or get knocked over. For this reason no inside furniture or linens can go outside at any time. Outdoor blankets must be taken with you when you go back inside. When it's especially windy power and/or internet can go in and out. Some carriers get service at our house, but the most reliable method is to turn your phone into airplane mode and connect to the wifi. In the Summer: A/C should be turned off or left at 78 when leaving the house for extended periods of time. Doors and windows should always be closed when A/C or heating is on. In the Winter: Heating should be turned off or left at 65 when leaving the house for extended periods of time. Doors and windows should always be closed when A/C or heating is on. Such a CUTE little getaway home. We loved it. Very clean, quiet, safe, out in the middle of nowhere, yet close enough to run into town for dinner or groceries. The kitchen in better stocked than units weve stayed in that cost substantially more. It is in the desert on a long dirt road. I was expecting the house to be covered in sand and dust inside and out...we were pleasantly surprised to see that it was not. I texted a host with a question during our stay and she replied within minutes. Next time we have plans to visit Joshua Tree we will definitely stay here again!!! ##### Ricki T. This property is everything we were looking for. Secluded, but close enough to town where we could pop into town quickly for anything we needed. It is very close to Joshua Tree which is what we spent most of our time doing! Easy check in and within a short driving distance of quick food and snacks. The kitchen and restroom had everything we needed. A/C was easy to operate and relatively quick to cool down the rooms. Only \*minor\* note would be the distance of the bedroom to the restroom. I only mention it because my wife is pregnant and she had to keep walking back and forth during the night. Again, not an issue at all, just worth a small mention. Overall, a great stay and definitely worth every dollar. I'm not quite a germophobe, but I prefer surfaces to be wiped clean and linens to at least smell like they've been laundered -- I was definitely pleased with the cleanliness of the home. Sara provided detailed and helpful instructions for the house before arrival. As big coffee drinkers, we really appreciated the coffee maker, Keurig, and French press options (as well as the grinder). The mounted AC units kept the home cool. The bed was uncomfortable (seemed worn out), and we were both rolling toward the dip in the middle.We had a hiccup with the check-in process as our login code hadn't been updated, and we were locked outside in 90 degree weather for 30 minutes (despite calling Sara 9 times). After our visit, I also sent Sara a message through VRBO to let her know of a few things that were broken before we entered the home, and I never heard back from her. Perhaps not the most responsive host, but it's really only an issue when you're locked outside :) ##### Beth R.
