We love the High Desert for a lot of reasons - including the open spaces, lack of crowds, and dry weather that we believe make it a safe place to visit. The Neighborhood: Pipes Canyon is one of the most sought-after locations in the High Desert. It’s close to everything – and yet very much set apart with next to no light or noise pollution. The area is surrounded by dramatic flat-top lava buttes, towering and weathered boulders, and an abundance of Joshua trees. Pipes Canyon is immediately adjacent to the Sand to Snow National Monument as well as the Pioneertown Mountains Preserve, both offering endless hiking and exploring opportunities, and the West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park is about 30 minutes away by car. Very well set up for a couple (or 2). Loved sitting with coffee in the Adirondack chairs and then going for a soak and watching the stars at night. We had planned a weekend get away to cook and relax at the house in this special location and take in the desert beauty, However, we had to leave the house from Saturday afternoon thru Sunday morning as the power was out for 12hours. So no dinner at the house Saturday night and no showers after hiking. This cut our festivities short and interrupted our trip. Apparently, when I enquired with the manager they suggested this happens and there was no consolations offered and the manual suggested this happens in the area so be advised. We have rented many houses in the area over the past 10years and never had this issue. ##### Felicity N.
