Enjoy your stay in the country. Dog friendly with a fenced-in yard

Welcome to our little cottage in the country. Come relax and enjoy the comforts of home in a cozy and comfortable environment. As you enter the outdoor courtyard you will find a seating area in front of a gas fireplace to enjoy. Also, you may have your meals at a bistro table for 2. A gas grill located under a roof in case of inclement weather. As you enter the home you will find an open floor plan with a fully equipped kitchen, dining table for 2, living room with comfortable seating to enjoy a book or watch a movie or television. Relax with music from a Bose Wave. The bedroom has a queen size bed and the bathroom has a curbless shower with a teak seat. Please look forward to being in the country enjoying life! We welcome your dog with bowls and a pet cover on the sofa. Maximum weight for your dog is 30#. Only 2 dogs are allowed with a $125 fee for one and $125 for the second one. Send information for approval. We do require that you cleanup after your dog and attend to them outdoors. Please note that our home does not accommodate children. Our home is convenient to Routes 30 & 283 to travel easily to Columbia, Lancaster City, Amish country, covered bridges, Gettysburg, Hershey, and day trips to Philadelphia, Baltimore,Washington DC, or NYC. Wonderful hospitality and beautiful farm

The accommodations were beautiful, the hosts were extraordinarily friendly and welcoming, and their scones are the best we have ever had. We will definitely be staying with them again.

Love it and we will be back again.

This was our second time staying here and we love it. The country setting is what we enjoy and pet friendly as well. Close to everything but tranquil and relaxing.

4th time staying here

This was our 4th time staying in the Bird House and we had another enjoyable time. We love the country location it makes us feel like home. This time we enjoyed the York Herb and Garden Festival on Friday and spent a lot of time visiting the Amish Greenhouses. We cook most of our meals to spend time with our dogs but we did order take our from Caruso's Italian Restaurant and it was great and only 5 minutes away so still very hot when we arrived back to the house. We would highly recommend it and of course staying at the Birdhouse.

This stay was amazing! Everything we were looking for and more. I think the kitchen and bathroom were my favorite. Luxurious but comfortable. The hosts were so kind and thoughtful. Homemade scones and flowers were waiting. The pictures could never do this gem justice. Thanks Carol & Pete

Wonderful Spot

A lovely setting amid the beautiful PA rolling farmlands. And loved the presence of the chickens, donkeys and the emu on the property. The cabin is clean and wonderful and just as pictured (except I don’t believe the beautiful shower is captured in the photos). It turned cold that week so we weren’t able to enjoy the outside space as much but look forward to a return stay in the summer!

Best Ever

Work Retreat Play

Staying on a mini farm, surrounded by rolling pastures, chickens, two mini donkeys, and an emu named Ferrari was good for the soul. The cottage was perfect for work, and taking breaks to say hello to the donkeys made the time fly. Arriving to homemade blueberry scones and a dozen farm fresh eggs was lovely! We purchased our meals for the weekend at Central Market, and enjoyed Lancaster and Columbia as much as our short stay would allow. We hope to return, if only to see how big the frolicking calves from the farm next door get. Thank you Carol and Pete for envisioning a sweet little compound of magical and well-appointed cottages, and opening it to guests.

The blueberry pastry was very good. It was quiet, just what we are use to. We were glad to have farm fresh eggs like we eat at home. It was easy for us to get to and from our son's home in York.

Peaceful long weekend

The place was cute, quaint and adorable. For being small the use of space was designed very well. We loved the animals and peaceful surroundings. Owners thought of everything, great special added touches. Loved it!

The perfect stay!

Other than the constant sound of gunfire from a nearby shooting range, our stay at Carol and Pete’s “bird house” was absolutely wonderful- clean, well accommodated, and friendly with delicious blueberry scones and fresh farm eggs. We loved the roosters and cows!

An awesome place. We were greeted with homemade scones, fresh cut flowers and farm fresh eegs. Grain free treats for our 2 yorkshire terriers with bowls for their food and water. Enjoyed the seeing the chickens roam the area. A doe and fawn came by to see us. We'll definitely stay here again.Communication with the host was great, quick response, with link for a local markets

35th Wedding Anniversary

The property was just as the pictures showed. The owners brought us fresh made scones when we arrived, which were delicious. The house was absolutely perfect for our stay. We will be planning another visit. Thank you so much!
