We made a specific side journey to the Lake Louise area because of its natural beauty. We arrived about 45 minutes before both Lake Louise Inn's restaurants closed, anxious to order. I was shocked to learn neither were disabled accessible- one is upstairs from the lobby, one is downstairs- no elevator. I asked if there were any other way we could access either to order and was told no. We pre-requested a ground floor unit, and specified that I was traveling with a registered service dog, and to please not spray with deodorant- common in Canada pet friendly rooms, but service dogs can stay in any type of room. We did have a first floor unit, it was sprayed heavily, which is painful for a scent trained medical alert dog, and dangerous for the disabled handler. The building we were in had several steps up. Other ground floor rooms did not. It was off season, but the parking lot was full, with no parking near our building. I mentioned the restaurant accessibility issue on check out. The clerk said they had a service entrance for the lower restaurant for wheelchairs. We did not ask for anything, but a manager overheard. The front desk clerk helping us ran out to our car, and profusely apologized, said they were waving the resort fee, and gave me a sticker, postcard and dog poop bag container. It was awkward. All I want is for Atlific Hotels, one of Canada's largest management companies, do better for disabled travelers at Lake Louise Inn, and perhaps a better staff training.
