If you are looking for a quiet relaxing time away, this is a perfect place to stay. You can tell the owners put a lot of work into restoring the old farmhouse. It is in a very quiet area, but within short drives to a lot of the northern Poconos attractions.
We arrived very late but Lisa was excellent at communicating with us on how to check in, etc., so no issue. I had several questions and Lisa was very patient answering those – thank you, Lisa! She had lots of goodies for us - local cider, delicious tomatoes from her greenhouse in the back, etc. There’s a nice covered front porch (we didn’t use it) and a covered back/side porch (we used it for having bf). There was a gas fireplace which we used (there's a gas grill too but we didn't use it). The house must've gone through lots of renovations while keeping the farmhouse characteristics intact. For example, the floors downstairs were very nice. All decorations are wonderfully fitting to the house. There are outdoor activities, such as hiking (e.g., Top of the World) and horseback riding nearby (Lisa told us about these). Nice restaurants too and not too far away (we tried German and it was excellent). Overall, my wife and I had a great time there. We wanted a secluded area and this was very fitting.
A friend and our teen daughters decided to kayak At promised land state park (yes even in the winter !), and we had a blast. This house is close to everything outdoors. Actually the weather was perfect.
The house was so exciting and beautiful -we all loooved the farm house! We grilled, watched movies , slept in late (not a sound in the morning ), visited the cows, ate homemade waffles and used the complimentary syrup left by made by the family farm, enjoyed the decor of the house immensely! The house was larger than what we needed for five and the sleeping accommodations worked perfectly—comfy beds and private too. We wanted to stay longer. The only downside is that it was a bit too cloudy to enjoy the multiple sun porches which means we’d have to come back!
Absolutely everything was stocked in the kitchen. We packed very light and didn’t bring a thing (which is required of so many places), but no, we didn’t lack anything . Even some beer in the fridge for my burger .
We wanted an authentic farm house stay and got one! I highly recommend this place for its charm, solitude and yet amenities galore. Thank you! (And I also found out a bit of family history connection when I was there). Three teen girls (14-16) were giddy ablout the house and didn’t want to leave .
We loved our stay in this charming and beautifully decorated home. Attention to detail and concern for guest comfort is clear throughout. We loved all the different places to gather, porches, fire pit, living spaces, kitchen barstools, and dining room. The surrounding area is beautiful with plenty of places to explore. Lacawac Sanctuary in particular was a beautiful place for walking and picnicking. Hope to come back another time.
