We had a great time and the management was very accommodating. The area had a power outage due to the storm and phone lines were a challenge. The management ensured we were taken care of through the situation. The creek in the back of the cabin is serene and the wildlife viewing from the cabin was a plus!
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin very much! We especially loved the outdoor space. We brought our portable propane firepit and enjoyed playing horse shoes and just sitting under the large trees having conversation and cocktails. The location to the Village is awesome to bike or hike to. The front patio was awesome for morning coffee and afternoon drinks while enjoying the view. The back deck was super zen while swinging and listening to the creek and the birds. The interior is a little dark for our taste, but the vaulted master makes up for it with the volume and light. We had a great trip and thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
The home was private and the location was superb. The beds were terrible, sorry, and the house is very dark, except for the upstairs, which we didn't use because my Mom is elderly and couldn't climb up the stairs and into the tall bed. All it needs is a ceiling light in the living room and brighter lights in the kitchen some extra light bulbs would have been good to have. There were spiderwebs and flying insects in and out of the house, which is reasonable for the creekside location, and we found sprays under the sink to ward them off. We enjoyed our stay because of the surroundings, but we wasre happy when it was time to move on, too. There is no place to empty the trash we had to take with us. We finally found a gas station dumpster in LaVeta to dump it in.

What an idyllic setting with the babbling creek right off the back deck and robber jays and cottontail rabbits entertaining us in the front yard. The generous spirit of the homeowner is apparent with the variety of groceries they have stocked the kitchen with. The furnishings are a bit well loved with the linens being stained and threadbare and some of the furniture is a bit impractical, with the bed pictured pushed against a wall and very high off the ground. However, the setting is beautiful and very near a couple of trailheads and Cuchara shopping.

The creek by far is the best asset for the property.
Needs cleaning supplies dish cloths, needs a way to get rid of trash, had to take trash home as to not attract bears. Master bed needs a low profile box spring but was comfortable once you got in. Ceiling fan in master needs dusted. Need wash cloths in showers. The grill was nice need a grill brush to clean it when finished using it. Rustic but that’s ok.

Please1. replace towels - at least the ones with permanent stains and holes2. try to resolve the musty/mildewy smell - it is overwhelming3. the upstairs bed is much too high to be safe - none of us could get up or down and therefore did not use that bed4.the food in the frig needs to be removed - the doors were full of partial containers from previous occupants5. the comforters in the twin beds bedroom need to be washed - they do not smell clean6. the coffee pot was VERY dirty7. take out the trash - WHERE???8. unplug ALL the appliances - even the frig and the microwaveWe would say that the photos of this property give a different impression than the reality. The pictures show a bright and airy interior whereas the reality is that the interior is dark and musty. This property was, for us, adequate because it was close to the rest of our family.
Upon arrival, floors were dirty and cobwebs full of gnats were found in several places in the kitchen. Personal items like family photos, junk drawer posessions, and old food in the fridge were there. Living room furniture was uncomfortable and space was overall tight and awkward. Beautiful scenery outside, but back yard furniture is a little dilapidated and junky. Downstairs bathroom is impossible to get ready in. Upstairs toilet doesn't flush well, and faucet handles full off. There's a nice swing on the back porch, but it was build too close to a post to swing on it unfortunately. Not a terrible stay, but definitely didn't meet expectations.

QUEEN, FULL AND TWIN BEDS. OLD. DARK.
The positives - the owner is incredibly nice and accommodating of the mistakes (see below). And the property manager is outstanding. The little creek in the back is pleasant.
Unfortunately, it was (is?) incorrectly listed as having a king and queen. However, the biggest bed is a queen, the next is a full and there are two twins. We would not have booked it had we known it had smaller beds. We were given a portion of our rental fee back for the misleading listing AND thanks to the kindness of the owner.
If you’re looking for a 60’s/70’s cabin without updates, this is your place. The online pics had to have been taken with floodlights…inside it’s very dark downstairs. First floor bath is tiny.
FYI, if you have children or don’t like evil stuff, there are lots of books about ghosts, murders, horror movies and a framed print with a bloodied scene in one of the bedrooms. So be aware of the darkness therein.
we stayed on this property in July 2023. We had two couples and one individual. This property was cramped and not clean, and also very dark downstairs. The beds t
downstairs were very uncomfortable. Bathroom downstairs very small. The cook wear was very old. I actually found mouse droppings in the crockpot that I was hoping to use. Mouse traps several places. Towels very old and raggedy. The upstairs was roomy, comfy bed, but had issues with the toilet flushing and no towels supplied up there. Outside had a area with a table and chairs that was very dirty. Grill very cheap and should be thrown away! I absolutely would not recommend this property!! I have never written a review, but felt this was necessary.
