But we grew to be very fond of this hotel and will continue to go back. It has enormous rooms with enormous windows. It is now surrounded by skyscrapers but is a smaller mansion. The staff is wonderful as is the rear glass enclosed terrace. I loved the antique furniture pieces and the small size: 8 roooms. Mainly though it is a wonderful central location!! The room had the lovely high ceilings that come with a period property, and the furniture was also antique, which I also loved. It did mean that the room was a little colder (I’m here mid winter) but there was a heater and loads of extra blankets for the bed. A hairdryer was available at Reception if you asked. Breakfast was nice and plentiful (eggs, fruit, yoghurt and bread) and they made me up a little takeaway breakfast box for the following morning when my bus was earlier than the breakfast hours. The interior stands as it was left many years ago. Good breakfast and very helpful staff. Very large rooms and good lounge areas. Will soon need a bit of refurbishment to stay competitive.
