Pocket Guide: La Digue

La Digue is the smallest of the Seychelles’ inhabited islands and promises one of the most laid-back island experiences you can hope for. There’s very little to get in the way of a truly stress-free beach getaway. In fact, if you’re looking for a Seychelles hotel that really helps you slow the pace right down and feel like you’ve left the rest of the world far behind you, then La Digue could be your perfect choice.

Find Your Ultimate Seychelles Hotel

La Digue is just a short 15-minute hop across the water from Praslin. There’s no airport on La Digue and very few motorised vehicles apart from taxis, so lots of people explore this six-mile square island by bicycle. While La Digue has some very high-end luxury resorts, it’s also possible to find your own little slice of paradise without breaking the bank. Use Expedia’s search tools to choose between the five-star resorts or check out the options for self-catering apartments and family-run guesthouses to find something that suits you.

Laze Your Days Away on La Digue

During your time on La Digue, you’re likely to make your way to one of the island’s most beautiful beaches, Anse Source D’Argent on La Digue’s east coast. The beach has been used in countless films, adverts and TV shows, so you may already feel like you’ve been there. But like so many of the top spots in the Seychelles, there’s nothing better than seeing Anse Source D’Argent in real life.

It would be entirely understandable if you decided to spend your entire stay on La Digue swinging in a hammock tied to two palms just staring at the ocean. But if you fancy taking a trip out from your La Digue hotel to explore, you could catch a glimpse of the giant tortoises on a bike ride through the L’Union Estate. Or take a stroll through the Veuve Reserve, and take time to spot rare birds and Seychellois wildlife before returning to your hammock or hotel’s poolside.
