My fiancé and I stayed at the Taj to celebrate our engagement, and we were genuinely excited after hearing so many great recommendations. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of the five-star standard we expected.
At check-in, we told the staff we had just gotten engaged, but there was no acknowledgment or effort to make the occasion special. They offered to make us a dinner reservation, but when we arrived, no reservation had been made. We also booked spa treatments, and my package included a complimentary glass of wine that I was never offered.
Our room had several issues as well. The TV repeatedly shut off and the hairdryer stopped working. When we reported this, we were asked to prove it and had to show videos before the staff took us seriously.
These may seem like small issues individually, but together they showed a clear lack of attention to detail. For a hotel at this price point, especially for such a special occasion, we expected much more thoughtful service.
Unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed rather than celebrated. Three stars at best.

"My room was on ground floor with view to parking lot and next to reception - not much privacy. Place seemed empty so not sure why they put me here. You will need to draw the blinds if you want any privacy. Room was nice as was backyard area. No soap in shower."
