If you enjoy quiet night, it is your choice. The ryokan is quiet and comfortable and it's a nice treat to soak in the bath on the rooftop after a long day of exploring. The staff are wonderful and very helpful in suggesting 'key' sites and restaurants. The bath on the toproof is excellent. But the hotel is not a ryokan. There is no rule, no real staff, a young guy was in charge of the whole hotel. He was very nice but did the minimum. The reception was basic, no instructions were given.
