Balmacara Sleepy Hollow
We had a lovely week staying here. Although a little dated, the accommodation was clean and comfortable and beds provided a great night's sleep. The garden was large and although not enclosed was great for our older lab. Previous reviews mentioned the steps down to the front door. For clarity, there are two steps on a gravelly slope. My husband who has some mobility issues after a stroke, managed these safely. The bathroom for the double room had an open shower with a small step in and importantly, a solid handrail - this made up for the less than powerful shower. I would be happy to stay here again. Loads of walks with the dog (hilly) among woodlands, and we had fab weather. This property was really central and close to a hotel with great dining. Thank you!

Quiet secluded retreat
A very comfortable cottage with lovely views and well equipped. Perhaps could have a few throws or rugs for when heating is off. Kitchen paper towels and kitchen hand towel not provided. The lovely bay window did not shut snugly and there was a draught when wind was strong. The access is not elderly friendly, being on a slope. No handrail. However, the garden was lovely with lots of bird life and the patio was nice for sitting out when the sun was warm. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Great location but cannot comment on this property
The owner upgraded us to another adjoining property, as there was an issue with the one booked. Hence the star rating- we did not see this property inside. The alternative property was very good. The location and views from the property were excellent and the alternative property was clean, well equipped and comfortable.
