Luckily there is another property belonging to the same owner (Kawana hotel) about a block away, and when I used the intercom the receptionist had to walk over and attended to my check-in when I arrived at 10pm. The room that I was assigned could not be locked properly from the outside. I discovered this in the morning when I was about to lock up and leave. The lock was broken, so just pushing on the door after "locking" it would open the door, so that was very disappointing. As said previously, no one at the front desk and when I used the intercom the receptionist at the other hotel was busy. There is no toilet paper in the toilet (only a bucket of water + hose), and the bed sheets are stained. The water supply stopped abruptly on the first morning. I am a solo male traveler who has travelled in the indian subcontinent, and this place reminds me of some of the cheaper places in inner-city mumbai.
