If you're looking for a wonderful African experience, Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp is great. The tent experience with wild animals steps away, the two three hour safaris every day, and the relatively small number of campers makes for a great time.
Everything was as pictured. Glamping tents were good. Animals did roam the grounds. Always felt safe though. And most importantly the safari drives were amazing! If you are lucky you will get Vestment - he was the absolute best!!! Definitely recommend.
The key reason of staying here is the safari drives and seeing the animals. And this did not disappoint!!! Our guide Vestment was absolutely incredible! He was so friendly, knowledgeable, and got us up close and personal with so many animals. We had the best pictures and videos of all the animals we wanted (except for the elusive cheetah). The luxury tents were nice, but we were there during a very hot period so spent much mid-day time in the pool.
The food was really good with nice options each night. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
The highlight was having 2 elephants visit the pool while we were swimming in it!!! Incredible experience of a lifetime!!!!
The minute we arrived we were greeted by lovely staff and elephants at the pool. What followed was a once in a lifetime experience.
The positives - Beds are super comfy with electric blankets for those cold nights and a fan for the warm days. The food was AMAZING. I LOVED being seated with fellow safari mates and getting to know people from across the world even though we are total introverts. Our guide Leighton was brilliant, knowledgeable and an excellent driver. And the wildlife…. Wow. I still can’t believe we saw so many lions, leopards and cheetahs, not to mention everything else. Being birders we were worried that we would be ignored and never get a moment to identify a bird but Leighton balanced the needs of the guests so well and had an excellent knowledge of all animals.
The only downsides… when we arrived we were so hungry but because our flight was delayed we missed the afternoon safari and had to wait until everyone returned before we could access any food - a wait of 2 hours was really tough and no one explained what was happening. Highly recommend explaining the daily itinerary to people on arrival and having snacks available for purchase.
Loved the Couples shower but unfortunately not enough hot water for 2 people.
Our stay at the camp was perfect. Above all, our guide K-K was extremly helpfull and nice and showed us many animals and how and where they live. It was a highligt during our vacation in South Africa.
First trip to Kruger, and I do not think I could have picked a better place to stay. Everything was fantastic! The meals were wonderful and varied. They even made homemade breads to supplement a gluten allergy. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. As a birder he was helpful in identifying all of the birds we saw. One evening we were even able to see all of the big five in a single 3 hour outing.
Honestly one of the best wildlife experiences Ive had in a long time. Im South African and lived in Namibia so Ive had the chance to experience safaris. I went with my girlfriend who had never been before. Honeyguide is the perfect mix of comfort and real unmediated experiences viewing wildlife. Their team is very knowledgeable and committed and we saw plenty of wildlife on guided drives, the food was incredible and the glam tent we stayed in was luxurious and well equipped while being eco conscious. Highly highly recommend! will be back.
We had a great weekend at Honeyguide. Our guide, Devance, was knowledgeable and experienced and we had fantastic sightings. The food was good and we appreciated how dinner was a bit of an event which included calling people to table with a drum and the chef announcing the menu. As luck would have it we were allocated to a vehicle with a lovely young couple whose company we enjoyed very much. But please note that you end up sitting at the same table and going on drives with the same people for the duration of your stay - so you may end up spending your whole weekend with people whose company you do not enjoy.
The tented rooms were spacious and we enjoyed waking up to the morning light and being so close to nature. But - there is only a fan and it was HOT with no air-con. We were there in September - I don't think I would book to go there again in the summer months.
There was not a bar-fridge in the room but we did appreciate the endless supply of cold filtered water and the refillable metal bottles we were given at check-in. Very eco-friendly and cost effective too!
Overall I would recommend this experience to people who want to experience a value for money safari experience.
Tout était parfait. C'est probablement mon meilleur souvenir d Afrique du Sud.
Notre guide Twice était au top. Nous avons vu le Big five.
Un endroit fabuleux, un séjour inoubliable
