We Love The Cat Bird Seat!
We really loved staying here. The house met our needs completely. The location is unbeatable. The view is incredible. The beach is mere steps away. Too often places have too few towels, too few place settings, etc. This was NOT a problem here. Everything about this house feels generous, including the access to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club. Our kids lived in the pool when they weren’t in the ocean. We would love to stay here again. Highly recommend!

Amazing, Again!
This was our second stay at this property, and it was as delightful as the first time. This place has everything I look for in a vacation rental, including an amazing location, a well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, good water pressure in the shower, and lots of beach gear.

Best VRBO in Kauai!!!
This house is the best place we have ever stayed in!!! Everything was perfect inside and out! We loved being right across from the beach and a few blocks from restaurants and turtles! The yard was amazing and kept the porch clocked from the road and passersby. We loved sitting in the porch and feeling like we were sitting on the beach but with all the conveniences of home! I would rent this home every time! I can’t say enough about the location and quality of this house! One room has a king and the other two single beds. Keep that in mind so you can ask them to put them together if needed. This house could not be better! Thanks for offering it on VRBO, it made our trip!!!!

The location of this house is great. The pictures in the listing are accurate - it is right across the road from a beach and has water views from the deck. The house has everything you need to cook but there are also a few places you can walk to for meals. We really enjoyed sitting on the back deck with the amazing view.

Perfect Beach House & Location
My husband, son, & I loved this location and the house layout. I loved having the A/C as an option for those extra hot days when unpacking or getting ready. We stayed in Oahu near Diamond Head then on the North Shore of Kauai at Hanalei Bay and this house was our fav. Just our style and vibe. Love the deck and outdoor shower area. Appreciated the beach chairs and other accessories. Owner was responsive, helpful, and made check in and out very convenient. Do recommend and would love to stay again.

Great Spot - Our Fave!
We love this property and have now stayed here at least 4 times. We are thrilled everytime. My son and I are serious bodyboarders and when Brennekes has a swell, theres nothing better than to check the waves right from the porch!

Ocean views & sounds from Lanai
This property is all about location and setting. You will love being right across from the ocean and Poipu beach. the large lanai with hot tub is where we spent most of our time. the front garden is full of flowering trees that hide the road but allow views of the ocean. the interior is pleasant and the kitchen was stocked appropriately for cooking at the house. this was our favorite property of all 5 we stayed at during our trip.

We’ll be back!
We’ve stayed in a half dozen locations around Poipu over the years, and this was our favorite. The location was ideal, facing the ocean but still protected from the afternoon sun. The floor plan worked really well for maximum privacy between the two bedrooms. We loved being about to watch the ocean, either when sitting in bed or when sitting on the amazing (covered) lanai. We also appreciated the lovely outdoor shower and the generous array of beach gear.

Fantastic Paradise
We absolutely loved our visit!!! The house had the most amazing view and even though it shows a road nearby, you would never know. All you hear is the sound of the surf and looking at the aqua colored water. It was perfect. It is very convenient to shopping and restaurants. The house is very well-equipped and VERY spacious. I think this was a big surprise as it was hard to see how large the space was on the pictures. All of us were impressed with the roominess. It was great having the two sleeping areas on opposite sides of the house. We had not one issue and the owner is so responsive. We were all sad to leave this piece of paradise and hope to return.

Favorite place on earth
Just got home a week ago from my favorite place in the world. I travel a lot and have been to many locations that are incredible, but summertime at Brennekes at the Catbird Seat is the best. Already looking forward to next year! Great location if you love the waves. Stones throw to the beach. Great outside shower. Awesome place for my family of 4.

Sweet house in Great location
We loved the location right across from the beach. Enjoyed having Breakfast on the lanai watching the waves. We could walk to boogie boarding surfing and snorkeling. Plus restaurants and shops nearby. House is big and very comfortable for a family of 4.

Best Location on Poipu Beach!
We have been to Poipu many times, but this LOCATION was the most spectacular and with all amenities as advertised we used everything: hot tub, barbecue, laundry facilities, beach items and outdoor shower. This home is comfortable, private, spacious and clean. We enjoyed everything everyday for 10 days. It was particularly wonderful on the covered lanai each morning and every evening, rain or shine. Poipu at its best.

Totally Amazing
This property sits on the southern end of the Island and is steps away from the beach. Hard to overstate how incredible this is! This makes it so that you can be active but also enjoy just sitting on the porch watching and listening to the waves. Beach right across the street has amazing waves for avid boogie boarders, beach 30 yards east has gentler water and good for snorkeling. We saw both sea lions and giant sea turtles while there. A truly spectacular shoreline hike is a five minute drive away. The house is spotless and well maintained. Some of the appliances are a bit older (like the stove top) and some are updated (like the really good washer and dryer.) Regardless everything is in good working order. In the outdoor shower area are beach chairs, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, etc. Our whole family loved it there.

Fabulous stay at the Catbird Seat
Our family had the best time at the Catbird Seat! The house was perfect for us. It was beautiful, clean, comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, beds were comfy, outdoor shower was very useful, and the house had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Don and Keny have thought of everything. The location can't be beat! We loved sitting on the lanai watching the dolphins and sea turtles and walking across the street to the beach. The Athletic Club was great too! The pool was never crowded and the food at the cabana grill was delicious. We can't wait to come back!

Incredible Location Amazing Location
We've been to Poipu a dozen times, and this was BY FAR the best stay. As huge bodyboarders, this was super fantastic to be able to walk to Brennekes to catch waves each day. Loved being able to drink coffee on the balcony and look at the waves rolling in. Loved the outdoor shower to clean off prior to heading back to the house to jump back on the porch. We normally do tons of excursions and driving around the island, and this trip we barely left the house or beach in front of the house! 10 Stars!

We have stayed here 3 or 4 times and we love it. Close to the beach, a pool nearby, close to a beach with turtles, close to tour locations of the Na Pali Coast! Its wonderful! And the house is wonderful!

Perfect location and view.
This is a two bedroom house with wonderful views of the water from the deck and each bedroom. There is a road between the house and beach but it’s not too busy or loud except for an occasional large truck. We spent most of our time just sitting on the deck looking and listening to the ocean.

Living with Roosters in The CatBird Seat
TCS has every thing you could want on a summer vacation in February! We went sailing to the Na Pali coast with Capt Andy, walking, swimming and driving to the top of Lanai (Kalalau Lookout) and the other way to Kileauea Lighthouse. It was all wonderful, wish we had more time!

This property is beautiful! It is clean and very well equipped. We stayed there with another couple watching whales from the beautiful lanai. We grilled and ate at home a few nights. There is plenty of room, a parking spot in the driveway, and it's very private. I am recommending it to my friends and hope to return there myself!

Best trip ever!
We loved the house and location. It could not have been better. House is beautiful and the view even better. While drinking our morning coffee on the lani we saw dolphins, whales, turtles and seals. Had a couple of small issues that were only very minor. Would have been nice to have a drying rack for our wet stuff. Also my wife had a bit of a verbal altercation with the hot tub attended. Guy was very rude. Accused us of porposley making tub dirty when it was, in fact, dirty when we arrived (the color of Gatorade). Also learned when there are flash flood warnings take it seriously. It's no joke. Lucky my daughter paid attention, closed the gates and parked across the street. Driveway will flood almost knee-deep. TV was a bit confusing to use. Never got the TV's in the bedrooms working. Wifi was a bit spotty but we really didn't care. And please mine the ripcurrents and no swimming signs when posted. Saw a few people get saved. Loved the house and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Catbird seat, it is a very beautiful and clean home, very well appointed with items guests can use, glorious views . Had minor issues with the blinds and television and the communication with the property owner/manager was prompt and efficient with resolution in a very timely fashion which is a major plus. We would definitely recommend this location and would stay here again

Auf unserer dreiwöchigen Rundreise auf Hawaii haben wir mehrere sehr schöne 5 Sterne Ferienwohnungen gemietet, aber diese hier hat alle übertroffen. Eine wünderschön eingerichtete Wohnung in perfekter Lage, die keine Wünsche offen läßt. Hier beginnt der Tag mit einem Frühstück auf der Terrasse mit tollem Blick auf den Strand und das Meer. Kaffeemaschine starten, das Bodyboard nehmen, ein paar Wellen reiten bis der Kaffee fertig ist. Das ist einmalig, Urlaub pur. Wenn wir nochmal nach Kauai zurückkommen, dann auf jeden Fall wieder hierhin, nur ein paar Tage länger.

Simply fabulous, can’t beat the view & locatoon
We loved the Catbird Seat in every way. The perfect location, spectacular view from every room in the house, the convenience of the private outdoor shower, the spaciousness and the sounds of the waves crashing (along with the roosters crowing, of course)! It was incredible to be able to see the turtles and seals swimming in the ocean daily from the lanai. So special! We hope to make the Catbird Seat vacation an annual tradition. Mahalo to Don for sharing his home! Tip: Keep bread and other perishables in the fridge because everything gets moldy and ripe pretty quick. And throw out the trash DAILY. We had a pretty gross bug issue because of flies.
