The property is in a terrible location. The only saving grace is that the Patong beach area is so crowded that it was probably a blessing in disguise. It must be the most overcrowded place on planet earth.

What a view
Amazing location and friendly staff. It is simple and offered great value....The rooms are comfortable, the pool is a bit run down and the breakfast is average but the view is to die for! It is a short walk to the restaurants, bars, markets etc in the area. I would recommend it

On the beach
We had a bungalow right on the beach. It was a little small and basic but location was excellent. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fabulous especially as the restaurant was open and right on the beach. Breakfast was ordered and served individually, only 1 morning was a buffet and this wasn't as good as a la carte.

Not as good as it used to be
I stayed here previously so decided to book again from 05-Nov-2017 for 3 nights without breakfast. I was allocated standard bungalow room B9 and the lady-porter carried my bag to the room. I was not happy with the room, no kettle, tiny bathroom with the shower almost on top of the toilet. I asked for a better room and they offered me room A14 which was 500baht per night more. As my original room B9 was booked at a discount, the receptionist wanted to add the discount to the 500baht room upgrade. After discussions, she eventually relented and just charged me the upgrade price of 500baht per night. There was no help in moving my bags to the new room. The A14 room had a huge bathroom with a stand alone tub and shower. The double beds are however two singles pushed together. The rooms do not have safes. There are lockers by reception with a key and a hotel padlock. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and a hose outside each room/bungalow to was your feet. The beach at the rear of the hotel was cut off by the water from the sea for one day, however access to the town was still possible by the side roads. On checkout, the hotel arranged for their hotel taxi to take me to my next hotel, for a fee.

My favourite hotel so far...
This hotel is absolutely wonderful. Don't believe some of the reviews on here. Honestly, I think some people just live to complain! Firstly, the staff in reception are absolutely lovely, and they could not be more welcoming. The hotel offers no Hassel motorbike hire, and all kinds of tours in and around samui. The food in the restaurant is delicious, and served right next to the beach. The beach is lovely and so is the pool area, again right on the beach. We stayed in a standard bungalow with garden view. This is one of the lower budget rooms but you still get a partial sea view. The place is just paradise. There is a market near by selling all kinds of food. Lamai centre is a 10 minute stroll along the beach and has more than enough in the way of bars, restaurants and shops, and crystal beach 2km up the coast road is off the scale. We will definitely stay here again. For the price, this hotel packs a real punch. 10/10.

PERFECT bungalow resort right on Lamai Beach
Easily one of the best places I stayed in SE Asia: top 3. Already decided when I come back, this is where im staying. Words like "Bungalow", "Boutique", "Villa" spring to mind. Spent 4 days there, and could've easily spent a week. Its literally on the beach (with own private beach chairs if you wish), but up at the top of Lamai beach so not crowded AT ALL like some of the resorts in the middle. About a 5 min walk down the beach to the middle of the strip with the restaurants & shops. The little bungalow rooms are absolutely adorable, inside and out. Huge comfy bed, sweet sunken bathtub/shower, aircon, WiFi, and the pool..... oh, the pool. Surrounded by frangipani trees and beautiful flowers, overlooking the beach. They have a pool bar and its right next to the restaurant. I spent about 7 hours there one day. The staff was very accommodating, they upgraded my room, and let me stow my luggage and use the pool after check out while waiting for my flight. The whole vibe of the resort was just perfect & I cant wait to come back!

Attractive if run-down budget hotel on the beach
Sand Sea is right on Lamai Beach with bar and pool, and some of the bungalows available looking out onto the beach itself. It's a good location, with decently-sized rooms and an attractive garden. At time of writing (2016/5 and off-season) the quality of facility upkeep was not great -- reception area sometimes has a sewage smell, room air conditioner was very loud clearly in need of maintenance, a nail poking out of the floorboards, repaints of parts of the rooms and reception in seemingly random ugly colours, bright fluorescent lighting -- these are a few examples. I also found the staff to be unusually apathetic; not unfriendly nor unhelpful, just not as cheerful and eager as other places I've visited. This list sounds worse than it is -- it's not a luxury hotel by any means, but for budget travelers this is a decent option (note I visited off-season so prices would be higher in peak season).

Stayed 23-Feb-2015 for 2 nights in superior room A-11 with breakfast, large bungalow. 2 tiny v.strong lady porters took our heavy bags to our rooms. No safe in room, but centrally located safety deposit boxes with 2*keys. Very deep stone bathtub, however, unable to fill it as couldn't plug it. Showers in tub were good. Didn't think it wise to have the light switch over the bath or the second switch next to the wash basin. Beautiful large pool, cleaned in the morning at 7:45am for 40 mins. Standard breakfast, but great views eating it in the restaurant on the beach. We rented a motorbike from the hotel with no problems. No telephone in room, so asked at reception for late checkout, however it was declines as they were full. Paid for hotel minivan to take us to our next hotel in Lamai.

Great spot to relax

Lovely quiet hotel on the beach!
We rocked up to the hotel early, after having caught an overnight train from Bangkok and early ferry from Surat Thani. We were sweaty and hot; expecting to just leave our bags and go to the beach - but the receptionist said our room was ready so we managed a quick shower (which is inside the deepest bath I have ever seen in my life!). The room was spacious and clean, and the grounds that make up the villas are beautiful. There seemed to be more staff that guests. I did, however, get an electric shock from a hanging out socket as I tried to plug the kettle in - but that was probably my own fault. The hotel backs out directly onto the end of Lamai beach, which was almost completely empty - it was like paradise. The restaurant served very good food and was well priced - but the hotel was close enough to the main strip to head out elsewhere if you want. I really liked this hotel and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice relaxing hotel!!

Great choice, good value for money
Once we arrived, we were upgraded the room to superior room, pool view. The room was quite spacious and comfortable with service facilities in the room, especially private jacuzzi ( love it so much). Luckily, we stayed on Sunday which there was Sunday market at night, located just a few walk away from the hotel. Although we feels staff not so friendly nor helpful, the hotel itself was good for money. It's location was easy to access by public transportation. Overall, we would recommend to someone who is looking for a quite place surrounded by necessary shops and restaurants. The beach was clean with acceptable number of rocks.

A very friendly staff is not enough
I chose this hotel because I was looking for relaxation in a beautiful place with night life not exaggerated, but I was only 5 nights at the Sand Sea, even though I had already paid for ten. "Escape" from Samui cost me to buy a new ticket (Bangkok Airways) to prohibitive tariffs. But every time I went back in the room of the hotel I felt that terrible smell musty and dank. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, maybe is the only good thing of the resort. To get the floor of my room clean and odor free bathroom I had to tip the cleaning lady. When you arrive at the hotel, the impact of the reception is very unpleasant. It seems to be arriving in the wrong place. The hotel location is fantastic, right by the sea, and is very quiet. But a beautiful beach is not enough to make an expensive hotel a nice place to take a vacation

Very nice place with a swimmingpool next to the beach. Stayed in a deluxe bungalow room - not impressed because the room have some open area which allow mosquito and other insect i don't know about. Had big problem with a stucked toilet - had to move to another room.If you want to pay more the hotel have much better rooms available.

Ci siamo trovati molto bene, la posizione è ottima, direttamente sul mare, con l'accesso alla spiaggia a pochi metri dalla camera, si trova appena fuori il centro di Lamai che però è facilmente raggiungibile a piedi, sia dalla spiaggia che dalla strada, in pochi minuti. La camera non è spaziosissima ma ha tutto ciò che serve e anche un piccolo patio dove potersi rilassare.

Ruhiger Strandabschnitt. Liegen könnten allerdings mal erneuert werden. Super Personal alle sehr nett. Was nicht so schön war, das der Putzwagen direkt vor meinen Bungalow stand. Würde jederzeit wieder buchen. Man sollte vielleicht auch über die Strassenbeleuchtung zum Hotel nach denken , sehr dunkel nachts. Für Alleinreisende ( Frauen) nicht so toll.

mit den jahren ist das hotel schon abgewohnt aber es ist halt so,preis leistung stimmt.zum frühstück war sehr einseitig und gleich zb. toastbrot butter marmelade honig und früchte nur schinken keine anderen wurstsorten .zum warmen nur rühreier.wenn man nicht sich selber hilft mit anderen lebensmittel für abwechslung es ist geduldet gewesen

ラマイの中心地にも近く、とても静かなホテルで、夜は波の音を聞きながら、まったりと過ごすことが出来ます。 スーペリアクラスの部屋は広くスーツケース5～6個位広げても、まだ余裕のある広さです。 今回予約時に部屋タイプを間違えてスタンダードの狭い部屋を予約してしまったが、追加料金を払うことによって スーペリアクラスに即変更していただきました。 今回2週間の滞在でしたが、朝食は一度も変わることなく毎日同じメニューが並んでいました。 アメニティはシャンプー・コンディショナー・ボディソープ・固形石鹸・綿棒・シャワーキャップ。 ドライヤーはレセプションにて無料貸し出し。 客室内にポットあり。毎日600ミリリットルのペットボトルの水を1人1本。 最終日朝5時ホテル出発で空港に向かわなければならず、ホテルでタクシーの手配をしたが、タクシー1台600バーツと良心的な値段だった。

Es ist eine sehr schöne Hotel Anlage mit sehr nettem Personal. Ich war schon 4 mal in diesem Hotel und würde es auch gerne wieder besuchen. Es liegt ruhig aber doch sehr zentral. Es hat ein sehr gutes Preis leistungs Verhältnis und es ist für jeden Geldbeutel etwas dabei. Auch sehr gut für Backpacker geeignet. Einen schönen Pool mit Blick aufs Meer. Eine schöne grüne Anlage direkt am Strand gelegen. Das Frühstück ist ausreichend und für jeden Geschmack was dabei. Ab dem zweiten Preisbereich gibt es sehr große Badezimmer und Wohnräume.

Vista mare ma non basta
Avevamo prenotato una camera superior vista giardino, al nostro arrivo ci hanno dato un bungalow vista canale di scarico. La camera era fatiscente,obsoleta, sporca, la doccia non funzionava, c'erano spifferi e zanzariere. Dopo la prima notte abbiamo chiesto di cambiare camera e ci hanno dato una camera nella parte nuova. La stanza era migliore e più grande della precedente e la situazione è decisamente migliorata. In generale l'albergo è molto vecchio e lasciato un po' andare. La colazione è buona così come la posizione.

It was a nice stay. The service at reception very nice, i suggest beachfront bungalows. All was very simple but easy going and very chilled, the pictures are not properly realistic, therefore it was a lovely stay, easy also for Who's not riding a motorbike
