Just that for a premium price of 600 USD for 2 nights (breakfast included) for a single person, this place fall slighly below expectation, partly due to lack of shower in room, the fume from burning of incense, lack of facilities such as coin washing machine, in-house cafe, coin washing machine, need to surrender room key to front counter when going out and relatively lesser choice of 2 public baths. I had stayed at a different ryokan the night before in a Western-style room, so this stay was a completely new experience. The staff and service were wonderful, and the location of the ryokan was very scenic. I had not included dinner in my booking, but I wish I had. I did rent the private onsen for 45 minutes and was able to enjoy the relaxing effects of Arima’s famous gold and silver waters. The tatami-style room was charming and comfortable, and I would love to return in the future and bring friends with me.
