  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Absolutely stunning, highly recommended

I came for the weekend with a couple of my girlfriends and could not have had a better experience! The weekend we went was a little cloudy one day but the cozy house and beautiful view made it well worth it! Having coffee on the deck in the morning sun was wonderful followed by a great day at the beach which was only a couple minutes walk was all we could ask for for a weekend away!

Stunning views, but outdated home!!!

My husband and I decided to rent this home for 4th of July week. Although the views are breathtaking, the home is extremely outdated. There are two televisions, one in the living room, and one in the den. No, televisions in the bedrooms. Secondly, there was a rather large nest in the fireplace that we called maintenance about. We were assured that someone from the "critter control" would be out the next day. Nope!!! There was dried food in the high chair from a previous renter, not cleaned. The deck on the top floor has loose boards. Be careful!!! There was a terrible odor on the top floor, but interestingly enough, they couldn't smell it. The good thing about this house is the views, and the short proximity to the beach. You can't walk to anything in the beautiful town of Duck. If you rent this house, invest in Febreeze, and ziploc containers for leftover food.

Incredible Sunsets

Six Knots is a very comfortable house in Sanderling with a large deck overlooking the sound and a great dock. The sunsets are incredible and the ocean is only 3 blocks away. There are tennis courts and a community pool, as well.
