Have stayed several times and will return again. It’s right on the green and within spitting distance of the pub.Perfect for two families with plenty of room.
What a great weekend the property is perfect with everything that you need. The house is really roomy and the bedroom's are all a good size and could sleep 7 comfortable. We would definitely recommend it.
This is a wonderful property with everything you could need. The photos in the listing just don’t do it justice, we really enjoyed our stay.
2 mins to the pub and local stores.
20min walk to the costal path.
3 miles to East Portlemouth and the wooden ferry to Salcombe.
The only drama was when we arrived in the dark and it was a bit of a struggle to find the gate into the property and the parking behind the property. A little map would have been ideal as Google maps was quite limited. However can’t complain coz we found it and had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend the cottage.

The cottage is lovely and very well presented.
The cottage is lovely and very well presented. The owners have thought of every scenario and there is lots of equipment. The beds are ok. They are not the most comfortable but that doesn’t mean they are uncomfortable. The heating is effective and the hot water boiling! If we could have taken this cottage and put it elsewhere then it would have been simply perfect. Parking is a problem. The access road to the parking area at the back is tiny and the entrance was part obscured by next doors van (that was without an engine I think, it certainly wasn’t moving). We tried to pull up to load/offload but the single track road outside the gate was surprisingly busy so in the end we just carried everything from the village green to the cottage. It’s not too far away but when we had to do this with shopping as well as cases, both in the pouring rain it is not ideal. That said the cottage itself was lovely. We touched base with the local contact in the days prior to our visit and she was great. Towels are included and there is everything you can think of to make your stay go as smoothly as possible.

We enjoyed our holiday in the Shippen.
We enjoyed our holiday in the Shippen. The house was lovely, clean and comfortable and everything we needed had been provided. Turning my Honda CRV was a bit difficult and I felt that if the corner of the parking area was rounded off rather more it would have been easy. However, we were advised about the parking so thank you for that.
The handrail to the front door bridge was rather rickety and we feel the owners need to rectify this when they are able. We felt really at home at the Shippen and very much enjoyed the village, the Cafe and the Pigs Nose! Full marks!
