The lodge was overall had a look of worn out buildings without too much renovations However the free breakfast and the buffet dinner was excellent and the location was very serene and peaceful
The property itself has seen better days and the access road to get there is pretty long- we thought it was just off the main road. The rooms and hallways were in need of an update/thorough cleaning. All that said, the employees were the nicest people we encountered! The food was plentiful and good, and the dining area/great room was warm and inviting. We didn't get to experience the grounds as we were in the national parks all day, but the lake was lovely. A great family destination, but I would recommend that they limit the hot tub to adults.
Even though their bridge was still out and the drive in was an adventure, the lodge was a nice change of pace. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. All meals were included and amazing! They made sure to provide labeling and alternatives for people with food allergies. As a mom and grandma of boys with allergies, this was great to see.
We did not take advantage of the daily activities, as we explored the park, but were impressed by the offerings. If we returned to Sequoia National Park, we would stay there again.
Montecito Lodge is a peaceful, rustic stay near Kings Canyon. The location is beautiful, staff are friendly, and meals are hearty. Rooms are simple but clean—don’t expect luxury, but it’s perfect if you want comfort and nature in one place.
I was delighted by the copious buffet of lovely food for all meals, the small lake perfect for a swim and jacuzzi to ease sore muscles.
The rooms are basic but ok..
Our tween boys said this was their favorite place they have stayed on this trip. We enjoyed the canoe, kayaks and paddle boards available for personal use on the lake. We attempted tennis, but learned we are not a tennis family. There was basketball available too and a trampoline. The kids were def loving all of the fun. And the buffet for dinner and breakfast were pretty decent. Desserts were AMAZING! We stayed in one of the personal cabins, which was nice for space and perfect for our family. We also enjoyed s'mores in the evening. Something to note, there is not a great system for your luggage and they offer wheelbarrow type carts to haul your luggage to your room/cabin/etc. It can be quite a haul, but it wasn't a deal breaker for us, might be for some. Any items that were 'dirty' or unkempt were from people leaving things out in places, can't really be the fault of the property. I'd sum this property up as a more camp type of accommodation (which it sounds like their family camp is pretty fun). Overall, I'd stay again and would suggest it for people wanting to visit the park. The location was pretty perfect.
We had lovely time at this lodge, the staff is very friendly especially Mr Knucles who works on various outdoor activities. My kids had a great time here, would definitely like to come back. Hope the approach road becomes better.
The property was reminiscent of youth camping programs with delightful staff. The available activities, food, lake and sunrise views, were also a plus. Definitely will recommend.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The cabins need some TLC, the food is med but the location and views make up for it.
