Top King Louis Waterfall Hotel Reviews
El Tumbo de las Olas
10/10 Excellent
"The hosts at the site were very helpful and wonderful once we found them. But finding them initially was very hard as the address is difficult to locate and our local taxi got lost. It would be far better if Expedia would send us a good contact # for the people who are actually running the place on the ground before we even came just as VRBO does. There should be more pictures of the outside of the rental as it was very deep in the jungle and very dark as there was no sunshine. There was very little electric lights at night so not possible to read. Other than that it was a great experience staying there as we met up with our son on his birthday at Lapa Rios. The ladies that hosted us were a A + team. Raana Azad"
Maze Lodge
8/10 Good
"The road up is bumpy but easy in little Suzuki SUV. You can get food delivered to your lodging from town. The site is actually surrounded by rainforest, not some then agricultural land. Wildlife and fauna everywhere and facilities are excellent. It is off grid so a/c went off, not power, at night but the ceiling fan was powerfully and we were very comfortable sleeping. I’m coming back."
Iguana Lodge Beach Resort
8/10 Good
"I want to start by saying that my wife and I very much enjoyed our 7 day stay. With that said it's web site states that it is the only luxury resort on the beach which in our opinion is stretching the word luxury a bit. To us its luxury is not in the facility, which is a bit rustic, but rather the natural setting that surrounds it. Beautiful macaws, howler monkeys, iguanas, tapir, hawk, other wild life in the area, lush green environment and of course the sound of the beach surf all day long. We found it to be a great place for relaxing and enjoying our surroundings. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and the pool every night surrounded the nature. The lodge is about 4 kilometers from the small town of Puerto Jimenez on a pothole filled dirt road. Suggest that guests rent a car or you wont be able to get around much to participate in the many other nature activities in the Osa area. The staff, which included the owner, was great (in particular Oliver and Mardi). Overall we give the lodge a definite thumbs up."

"Super beautiful spot. We saw most of the wildlife we saw while touring Corcovado while lounging on the veranda and swimming in the pool! Really a special spot!"
Lapa Rios Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"If you want to be right in the middle of nature and wildlife this is the place to go. Most of the resort is raised up into the treetops so you can be eye level with creatures you'd usually only see way above you from the ground. The included hikes and birdwatching were wonderful with very knowledgeable and passionate guides. We also arranged a day trip to Corcovado by boat through the lodge in advance, seems pricey at first but was well worth it. Over the course of a week we saw sloths (lodge & Corcovado), monkeys (everywhere), tapirs (Corcovado), ant eaters (lodge and Corcovado), coatis (lodge), frogs and lizards (lodge) and so many different birds (everywhere). We chose a forest bungalow room which is just screened in from the outside. I was a bit worried the lack of AC might make it too hot to sleep, but at the end of April the fans in the room were enough to keep us comfortable over night. No need for alarm clocks, the howler monkeys will get you up every day. Overall a fantastic nature focused lodge that combines the ability to relax with adventure."
Waterfront home w/ a full kitchen & shared pool - walk to beach
8/10 Good
"Overall, the home was as described in many ways and we had a memorable stay. A key tip for future guests—follow the guidance about locking up food. While we were home, wildlife visited, including two capuchin monkeys who came right up and observed us before eventually returning to the jungle. It was a unique experience. The beach in front of the home had large swells during our stay, which made for very peaceful nights. People do occasionally park along the road to take in the view, which we didn’t mind—the scenery is beautiful and worth seeing. The caretaker was excellent—very kind, brought us fresh fruit, and shared photos of local wildlife like a tapir and puma. Our main concern was the pool. The listing advertised a private pool within the lanai, but we were told upon arrival it was shared. The lanai is quite small, with only a few chairs, and the pool is more of a shallow dipping pool (only about calf height), making it unrealistic to share between multiple homes. I contacted management and requested the listing be updated to reflect a “shared pool area.”Additionally, there are walkways from homes behind the property that pass underneath the house near the twin bedroom, which affected the sense of privacy.Beautiful location overall, but clearer communication about shared spaces is needed."
