"Beautiful Castle, but a Disappointing Stay
We stayed at Barberstown Castle for one night, booking a Junior Suite for €200. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to our expectations.
Although the hotel is advertised as a castle, our accommodation was in an adjoining building rather than the castle itself. The suite was spacious with lovely high ceilings, but the room was quite chilly, with no way of adjusting the temperature. We also experienced traffic noise, and the room had no real view.
One of our biggest disappointments was the limited access to the actual castle. As hotel guests, the only part of the historic castle we could access was the breakfast room, which rather took away from the experience of staying at a castle hotel.
Dinner cost us an additional €103, and breakfast wasn't included in the room rate.
The property certainly has character and history, and the Eric Clapton memorabilia in reception was an interesting touch. However, for the price paid, we expected a more comfortable and memorable experience.
Overall, a beautiful setting, but the experience didn't quite justify the cost for us."
