This one-bedroom, one-bath recently renovated Mariners Watch villa is only 300 yards from the beach and has great nature and lagoon views off the large screened-in porch. The unit has been refreshed with fresh paint, and a new master bed with a king size bed. There is a sofa sleeper in the living room, too. The open concept main living room, dining area and kitchen lead to the screened-in porch where you have a table and chairs to dine, relax, and enjoy the lagoon view. The kitchen is fully equipped, and there are two flat screen TV\`s (one in the bedroom and one in the living room). The unit has a washer and dryer and wireless internet. It is also pet friendly! Mariner\`s Watch Villas are located in Kiawah\`s East Beach, just across the street from Night Heron Park with basketball courts, a soccer field, playground, and Nature Center. The East Beach Tennis Facility is a short distance away as well as the Market at Town Center where you can get a quick bite to eat or a cup of coffee. Kiawah Island is known for its natural beauty and extensive wildlife. It offers a multitude of family activities; riding bikes on the miles of bike paths, kayaking with dolphins on the river, crabbing and fishing from the dock, walking along the ten mile stretch of sandy beach, combing the shoreline for shells and other treasures, or just simply enjoying the island life. I have never travelled with our Goldendoodle before and was apprehensive about the cleanliness of a pet friendly property. With all hard surface flooring, it was easy to sweep away any sand our pups paws brought in and he was perfectly happy to sleep on his towel on the floor. Our dog loved the screened porch where he could watch people pass on the nature trail behind the property. It was clean, nicely decorated, very close to beach. However the kitchen was not fully equipped. The dishwasher and washer/dryer are old and needs replacing. The tv is too small for the room size in the den. Lastly the door needs a deadbolt for security reasons. The door now is just a door knob that could be easily opened by intruders. ##### michelle b. The condo is clean, stylish and the kitchen is well equipped. A few extra things would make it a perfect 5 star rating. - extra hangers - hooks in the bathroom and hallways for wet towels, jackets, beach bags - at least two luggage racks (there is only one) - extra towel bars in the bathroom for wet towels We provided our kids with extra paper towels, toilet tissue, Kleenex, detergent, dishwasher detergent and garbage bags as Sweetgrass suggested. We also took advantage of Sweetgrass’s offer to arrive at 2pm for an extra $50 and leave at noon for $50\. A very nice perk! Overall, a great little condo for a weeks stay in beautiful Kiawah Island. ##### Barbara B. The location at Mariners Watch is perfect for a family that plans to utilize the beach as well as the pool and Night Heron Park. Although the condo advertises that it "sleeps 2-4 people", I truly think it is better suited for only 2\. We had planned on my 2 daughters sleeping on the pullout sleeper couch, and my husband and I in the main bedroom. We had expected it would be "snug" and this was fine with us. Unfortunately, the mattress to the pullout couch was very thin, and you could feel every coil in it. Needless to say, it was too uncomfortable for them to sleep on, so we used the blow up air mattress we had brought with us from home. Also, when we first opened the pullout couch, there were dirty sheets on it from the previous occupants. We called housekeeping, and they brought us clean sheets, but they weren't too apologetic about it. The remote control for the TV in the main bedroom was not working. We replaced the batteries, but this did not help. Also, I realize that I was on a southern barrier island, and seeing a bug or two is to be expected. However, throughout the week, we encountered about 5-6 beetles and it just seemed like a little much. The good: Close to the beach - literally steps. Sliding doors open the screened porch to the living room Comfortable king bed in the main bedroom Clean with games, books, TVs and Wifi Nice kitchen appliances and cookware, glassware, utensils The proximity to the beach is fabulous, but this unit is also close the The Nest (for coffee, snacks, quick bites, drinks etc), a nice basketball court, and nature center. There are some needed improvements. Disclaimer is that we did not contact property owner or Sweetgrass about these items during our stay. We did not want to have to relocate our pets in the event someone needed to come to the unit. 1\. Sleeper sofa is not usable. The sofa mattress is very thin with hard metal coils that are not padded, and the support sagged so that you could not find a place to lie flat. We could not use it. 2\. There are pillows and linens are provided, but extra sofas in the closet are bare - no pillowcases anywhere to be found, and stained. I would replace with new pillows and cases, or discard. 3\. The thermostat had a note not to set temperature above a certain setting. We obliged, but were uncomfortably hot at night. The inside temp was close to 10 degrees higher than the setting. We had to sleep with sliding door open with fan in front. 4\. Windows could not be cracked to ventilate. The latches are broken and will not function to open. ##### Sarah P.
