Loved the dog welcome packs too. Very clean and comfortable with good kitchen equipment. Our only issue was that the internet didn’t work all week after some storms before we arrived. We had a lovely stay at Glen Cottage, 2 adults and our dog. We have been searching for somewhere to stay that ticks all our boxes and this cottage definitely did. Impeccably clean and tidy, lovely garden which is 100% secure (hard to find!) and plenty of space for us. The location was perfect, Braithwaite is a lovely village, plenty of walks without needing the car. Lovely little village shop & tea rooms a stones throw from the front door, 6 minute drive into Keswick, couple of pubs and a designated parking space, what more could you ask for. The main bedroom was perfect for us, I would say that the second bedroom is small without any storage space so it could be a squeeze for 4 adults but the rest of the house and bathroom had plenty of space. The kitchen was well kitted out with everything we needed and the cleaning and tea welcome packs were a lovely surprise. We had a great experience with Keswick Cottages, easy check in and out, communication and the tablet hub was great addition. I would highly recommend Glen Cottage and Keswick Cottages and we will definitely be heading back next year. The enclosed garden was perfect for our 2 dogs and could imagine it being beautiful in Summer. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of cutlery and good quality crockery. There is a small freezer outside which we weren’t expecting, if only we had known in advance! No second settee as mentioned. On the negative side when we arrived the house was not very warm ( air pump heating) the cold snap was predicted, so would have expected the property to be heated accordingly. We were unable to adjust the heating which seemed to be controlled remotely by the owner, we telephoned Keswick Cottages and asked for this to be turned up but in truth the difference over our 4 day stay was minimal and we bought a supply of logs to supplement the heating. As a party of 3 adults we found the sleeping arrangements cramped , impossible for 2 people to be in the double room at the same time apart from sleeping. No storage at all , we never unpacked. The duvets as we discovered when we stripped the beds to leave were 4:5 tog, I would have expected Winter weight ones given the time of year and the predicted bitter weather. We love Braithwaite and have had many holidays in the area, we would possibly return to Glen Cottage but as a couple and not a family and at a warmer time of year. ##### anne a. It is in a great location with the village shop and tearoom across the road and 2 pubs very close by. The cottage is very well equipped and renovated to a high standard. We were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather and it was lovely to have breakfast in the beautiful garden and relax in it after long walks. We can't wait to return in the future This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Doug M. 6 May 2025 #### Very comfortable property in a good location. We had organised a long weekend break including my son with his dog. Fortunately the weather was good which enhanced the visit and contributed to a very enjoyable stay. The property was ideal providing good accommodation in a very central location in the village with good access to the shop and the local hostelries. The property itself was well equipped with all the amenities and was very comfortable. Overall we were pleased with the accommodation. However by way of feedback which we trust will be taken in the right spirit: \* one toilet roll per bathroom is inadequate and seems a bit mean minded. \* the cleaning materials left are also inadequate and whilst we have no problem with keeping the place clean/tidy but having dogs it would have been easier if more equipment was available. \* a stair gate would have been welcome. Having two dogs we had to create a barrier to prevent them from coming upstairs during the night. We would have preferred to pay extra for the accommodation rather than have regular add ons. The above didn’t distract from the holiday. ##### Doug M. Cottage located near lovely village shop and two pubs serving great food. Easy access into the hills and local walks from the doorstep. Would highly recommend and stay again. Communication and information provided by Keswick Cottages was excellent - would definitely use them again. ##### John R. A stone throw away from Keswick, the cottage’s couldn’t have been better positioned, there are hundreds of miles of walks from the cottage without having to get on the car, it was just perfect for us, our dogs aren’t big car fans. The cottage itself was cosy and tidy just like a cottage should be, everything worked seamlessly. Thank you so much for having us, we absolutely adored it This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### David G. 18 Mar 2025 #### Fabulous cottage stay. Lovely, well appointed, equipped and cosy cottage in the heart of Braithwaite. Perfectly positioned with easy access to the village shop, two pubs and other restaurants and fell walks from the doorstep. Ideal for a getaway for a couple. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. ##### David G. The Keswick Cottages staff are really helpful too, whenever we need our Lake District boost, we always come to Keswick, and use this service, we've never had a bad experience. Excellent café and 3 good pubs within walking distance. ##### Katherine P. The kitchen had everything you could need. The bathroom is beautiful . The lounge is a bit small for 4 people with a 3-seater couch and a chair .we found it brilliant for 2. The bedrooms are lovely with blackout blinds and curtains in both. The master bedroom has hanging rail and shelving . The is no storage in the twin and nowhere to put anything. The add bonus of the garden on a sunny day is great to relax after a day on the fells. Parking in the garage was fine for us and we have a large vehicle. We will definitely be back.. The house is newly decorated with a nice kitchen, bathroom and garden. Unfortunately the beds had thick synthetic winter duvets in the hight of summer, it was 23 degrees in the cottage. I thought the customer service from Keswick cottages in resolving this (which they didn't) was poor. The pillows were also really cheap and uncomfortable and gave me a really stiff neck. We paid a lot of money to stay for a week and I expected better, the idea of a holiday is to go away and relax and feel comfortable, considering you spend a third of your day in bed its important to have this right and the quality should reflect the price we paid we stay. Despite the cottage being decorated nicely it was a shame the art work on the walls and other furniture were so cheap and didn't flow together nicley. Ashame some of the original charm of a period cottage wasn't kept. I thought it was very stingy to only leave 3 dishwasher tablets and 2 toilet rolls and no laundry liquid considering we were a family of 4 staying 7 nights. ##### Oliver S. It is decorated and equipped to a very high standard. We were lucky enough to enjoy fabulous weather so made use of the garden too. There were just to 2 of us staying and we found it the perfect size. I think 4 adults would be a bit of a squeeze as there is little storage space in the second bedroom. It is literally across the road from the village shop and tearoom where we enjoy a lovely breakfast. The welcome pack with tea, coffee and sachets of milk was a lovely touch too. We will definitely return to this beautiful cottage This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Joanne R. 21 Jun 2024 #### Ideal location for walks from the door step, pubs a couple of minutes walk and opposite a shop. Lovely cottage, Newly decorated and Ideal location. Great enclosed garden for dogs.
