Birchgate - a cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

As you enter the property you will be greeted by the well equipped fully fitted kitchen diner with dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, microwave and electric oven and hob. A farmhouse table and chairs complete this traditionally decorated room. Under stair storage provides plenty of room for boots and coats.

The pretty lounge has a comfortable two seater sofa and two easy chairs, Smart TV and an open fire perfect for those cosy nights in!

Upstairs, the double bedroom has a king size bed and is beautifully furnished with cottage bedding and matching pine furniture - room for a cot if required.

The charming twin bedroom has two single beds, pine furniture and a lovely decorative feature fireplace. Both bedrooms will be dressed in luxury linen and towels for your arrival.

The bathroom is traditional with w.c., wash basin, bath with shower over, airing cupboard and is fully tiled.

Outside to the front is an enclosed garden, equipped with dining furniture and chiminea. Outdoor cushions and lantern are provided for your enjoyment. To the rear there is another small south facing garden with more dining furniture and private parking for one car.

The cottage is situated in a very quiet row of cottages with no through traffic passing.Towels and bed linen and provided. Wi-fi is available at the cottage free of charge.

Our 11th stay at Birchgate

We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Keswick. The cottage has everything we need for a great Holiday. We are coming back in November and have already booked for Spring 2026 too. The cottage is very comfortable, in an ideal location and has everything you need for a great stay.

Well positioned, good for small damilies

House is well situated, very near the park and a short walk to town. Access & parking is tight for cars but manageable. Lots of great walks nearby. Good shower, house was clean & good welcome pack.

Fantastic break

February Break

This is our second stay at Birchgate. It is a great place to stay. Well equipped and comfortable. The garden is secure for our dog. In the town centre so easy to get to the local shops and cafes.

Cosy cottage

Cottage was warm and clean, conveniently located with small but adequate parking space. Whole process for booking and gaining entry was very smooth. Small but appreciated welcome pack even though we were only there for 3 nights was a great gesture. Would use Keswick Cottages again; like the local/personal feel they provide.

Quiet, comfortable and well equipped

Quiet location but still very convenient for the centre of town (less than 10 minutes walk). Well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are conformable with plenty of storage. Front room well furnished and comfortable. Overall an excellent holiday cottage.

Lovely Cottage, Great Location

We have stayed at Birchgate many times and really enjoyed our stay each time. We particularly appreciate the location close to town centre in Keswick and parking on site. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable and we noted and enjoyed the various improvements and updates this year. Service from Keswick Cottages was friendly and efficient as always. Mid week stay

We have stayed at Birchgate many times over the years. On our last visit the property needed updating and redecoration. This has been carried out to a high standard and as a result we were extremely impressed and as a family had an excellent time. As usual excellent service from Keswick Cottages and we will definitely be back.

We had a lovely stay at Birchgate. The cottage is really well equipped, especially the kitchen. It is cosy and warm. The cottage was spotless and tidy. Great to have parking and an enclosed garden. The location is great, right next to the park and the town centre. Loads of walks without having to take the car anywhere. We and our dog loved it and hope to stay again.

Have stayed many times before - a comfortable and cosy cottage with parking and close to Keswick centre. Plenty of walks from the door too. There were some dog hairs as pets are allowed. Overall, well equipped and furnished.

Our 10th year at Birchgate, returning every year and now for 2 weeks.

A lovely cosy cottage not far from the centre of Keswick. Recently refurbished and the colour scheme changed to green. It has been updated without losing the cosy nature of the cottage. Has everything you need for a wonderful stay. Keswick Cottages staff are very helpful, professional and friendly and we wouldn't stay anywhere else in the Lake District. 10 out of 10 as always. Already booked again for 2025.

Excellent cottage close to town and well equipped

Our family of four (with 3 year old and 8 month old baby) loved our stay in this lovely cottage which was a bit larger than we were expecting. Having a parking spot on the drive is invaluable in the busy Keswick residential area and helped with quick hops in and out of the car if it was raining with the kids. The kitchen is very good, clean and well equipped. Super to have a dishwasher and good washer-dryer. Lounge nice and comfortable, good smart TV. Beds comfortable and bathroom a good size for kids bathtime. Would stay again.

Stay at Birchgate

We arrived at the property and where impressed with its close location to the centre of Keswick. The property is access by vehicle down a narrow lane. Reverse parking into the bay outside the property is advised this will make entry into and exit from the bay easier. The ground floor was accessed via the kitchen and very nice it is. It is also the eating area. Upstairs the bath was a lovely after a days walking. The bed was most comfortable also. We had a lovely stay and would stay here again.

Pre Christmas Mini Break

This is the second year in a row myself my partner and our two little dogs have stayed at Birchgate we wouldn’t stay anywhere else its in a quite little street just over the road from Fitz Park it’s in a brilliant location for town. The house is very warm and welcoming with everything you need at hand in the kitchen modern appliances, it’s very clean, modern interiors and decor, beautiful bathroom you don’t feel like you’re staying in a holiday rental it feels like home we can’t wait to book up again for next year. This year was made extra magical as we were there for the Keswick Christmas Lights Switch On so it was like a proper Traditional Christmas like my childhood.

Stunning

This is an amazing little cottage. We were delighted by it. There was everything that you could possibly need. and it was very stylish and comfortable. t was great to have a large number of dishes and cutlery so that we could fill the dishwasher and not run out of utensils. The bed is very comfortable . There were also considerations for our dog which were very welcome. It's a short walk into town and there is a lovely park almost opposite. I loved that there was a basket of knitting squares which I added some kitting and crochet to. Altogether a great place to stay. stay.

Lovely cottage in a great area

We were very pleased with Birchgate. A lovely cottage, tastefully furnished. Bed was very comfortable, and there was everything we needed in the kitchen. Shower was pretty powerful. Nice quiet area easily within walking distance of Keswick but tucked away. We felt very at home there. Couple small points - it is a very tight turn into the row of cottages and even tighter to get on the drive so worth noting if you have a larger vehicle. Could do with some more instructions especially for bin day as we had no idea you had to take bins to end of the road so missed the collection as we were out all day. Think the fridge may be in its way out as even on the coldest setting it wasn’t particularly cold. All in all a very good place to stay and I think we would go back.

In need of an update!

Great location.. just a 10 min walk from the centre. Property in need of updating and modernisation. Massive draft from the rear door. (I Bet it’s freezing in the winter!!) A water leak from the boiler on the first night which was fixed on day 3. ( I know this is just unfortunate and bad timing but it looked like it had been leaking for sometime)..Parking for 1 vehicle

2nd time at Birchgate

Second time at Birchgate. Is very near to town centre and the lovely Fitz park so ideal location and there is a parking slot outside which is a bonus in Keswick. The kitchen is large and has all the necessary equipment although a small freezer box wouldn’t be amiss. The cottage is cosy although could do with a little tlc. The bathroom is a good size but could do with a little cosmetic attention, also the water won’t stay in sink and the water pressure for shower is poor and changes from hot to cold, The double bed is uncomfortable but that may be personal preference. Like I said this was a return visit but mainly due to location.

Our third time at Birchwood

We really like this cottage, it is dog friendly and has a real fire. We have stayed three times already so it feels like a second home. We love Keswick and the people there. We will book again next year.
