Apple Tree Cottage was simply beautiful, with all the facilities you need - even a hairdryer. There was a fabulous, quiet garden to sit out in, but the best part was the lovely welcome we got from Michael who met us personally, showed us around and left a basket of provisions including a home baked cake and some Prosecco! Would highly recommend this cottage for a peaceful, pleasant stay. ##### Jane D. The cottage itself has been decorated and furnished in a quiet, understated way, very well appointed and spotlessly clean, tidy and comfortable throughout. We were looking for walking days, from the village, taking in both lakeside and mountain terrain. We were not disappointed. I can recommend the walk up Ullock Pike from which there is a horseshoe extension that takes in the summit of Skiddaw - and all within sight of the cottage way down below. A rewarding pint in The Sun Inn on returning leaves one facing a fully twenty seconds walk back to the cottage. Shopping is best done on the way to the village as there are no out of season facilities, but Keswick is close by and worth some time exploring anyway. Our hosts Michael and Hazel could not have done more to make our stay more enjoyable. I would heartily recommend the cottage for those wishing to immerse themselves in this quiet and lovely part of the Lakes. ##### Rodney This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Clive 16 Sept 2019 #### Great cottage apart from the very steep stairs. Great cottage apart from the very steep stairs. Lovely welcome pack and very clean. Heating didn’t come on so was a bit chilly in the evening and first thing in the morning. Duvet was a bit heavy for us but probably most people would like it. ##### Clive This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Helena 9 Sept 2019 #### Comfortable, clean and stylish; pub next door and fantastic walking from the front door. The cottage is well maintained, clean and comfortable. The kitchen has all you need, there is even an ironing board but no iron. The stairs to upstairs are a challenge for anybody with mobility issues being quite steep and shallow. The garden is well kept and is a sun trap when the sun shines. There is no back door. We were welcomed by the owner who left us with bread, eggs, marmalade, jam, milk , butter and a bottle of cava and a fruit cake. The village is quiet but does have a popular pub which was always busy with people eating whenever we popped in. The nearest shop is at the camping site which is a ten to fifteen minute walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. ##### Stephen This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Lynds 17 Jul 2019 #### We have stayed in various cottages over the years but this has to be one of the best. Lovely cottage. Modern decor, but very monochrome. Needs some colour added as grey everything became depressing as it was cloudy outside all week. Beds were comfortable. Needs roller blind at bathroom door for privacy. Dvd hummed when playing. Garden tidy and relaxing. Ideal for walks from cottage. ##### Julie This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Kathy 21 May 2019 #### Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Good powerful shower after a long walk!!!! ##### Kathy This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### David 26 Apr 2019 #### Excellent cottage, very well appointed. Excellent cottage, very well appointed. Spotlessly clean and everything one needs is there. The hosts were very friendly and there was an attractive welcome basket, including some fresh eggs, bread and milk (very useful since we forgot to take any with us). A quiet and peaceful part of the Lakes, well away from the honeypots and crowds, yet only 15 minutes from Keswick. The garden is well cared for and attractive..a lovely place to sit in when the weather is good. The Sun Inn is just next door, and serves good quality pub food, if a little expensive. There is no village shop, but Booths supermarket in Keswick is excellent. One watch out in the cottage is the stairs, which are quite steep and could be problematic for anyone with impaired mobility. Overall an ideal bolt-hole. Would we go again? Definitely! ##### David ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Spa Chester](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chester-Hotels-DoubleTree-By-Hilton-Hotel-And-Spa-Chester.h527788.Hotel-Information) > > [The Derwentwater Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Keswick-Hotels-The-Derwentwater-Hotel.h57788444.Hotel-Information) > > [Royal Whitby](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Whitby-Hotels-The-Royal-Hotel.h57917040.Hotel-Information) > > [Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bolton-Hotels-Last-Drop-Village-Hotel-And-Spa.h9341.Hotel-Information) > > [Derwent Manor Apartments](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Keswick-Hotels-Derwent-Manor-Apartments.h11899650.Hotel-Information) > > [ibis budget Manchester Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Manchester-Hotels-Ibis-Budget-Manchester-Airport.h75715089.Hotel-Information) > > [De Vere Tortworth Court](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bristol-Hotels-De-Vere-Tortworth-Court.h570412.Hotel-Information) > > [Littletown Farm Guesthouse](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Keswick-Hotels-Littletown-Farm-Guesthouse.h24453515.Hotel-Information) > > [The Cottage in the Wood](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Keswick-Hotels-The-Cottage-In-The-Wood.h35181958.Hotel-Information) > > [Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chester-Hotels-Grosvenor-Pulford-Hotel-Spa.h790572.Hotel-Information) > > [Lakes Hotel and Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Windermere-Hotels-Lakes-Hotel-And-Spa.h901040.Hotel-Information) > > [Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hook-Hotels-Four-Seasons-Hotel-Hampshire.h986107.Hotel-Information) > > [Cave Hotel & Golf Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Faversham-Hotels-Cave-Hotel-Golf-Resort.h33410673.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton by Hilton Bristol Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bristol-Hotels-Hampton-By-Hilton-Bristol-Airport.h16543862.Hotel-Information) > > [De Vere Wokefield Estate](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Reading-Hotels-De-Vere-Wokefield-Estate.h1044123.Hotel-Information) > > [Dunston Hall Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Norwich-Hotels-Dunston-Hall.h519081.Hotel-Information) > > [Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Leeds-Hotels-Oulton-Hall-Hotel.h15948.Hotel-Information) > > [The Park Royal Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Warrington-Hotels-The-Park-Royal.h24462.Hotel-Information) > > [The Horse & Farrier Inn and The Salutation Inn](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Keswick-Hotels-The-Horse-Farrier-Inn-And-The-Salutation-Inn.h34921966.Hotel-Information) > > [The Windermere Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Windermere-Hotels-The-Windermere-Hotel.h13431161.Hotel-Information) > > [Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Towcester-Hotels-Hilton-Garden-Inn-Silverstone.h48251404.Hotel-Information) > > [De Vere Cotswold Water Park](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cirencester-Hotels-De-Vere-Cotswold-Water-Park.h1770053.Hotel-Information) > > [The Derwentwater Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Keswick-Hotels-The-Derwentwater-Hotel.h455422.Hotel-Information) > > [Redworth Hall Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Newton-Aycliffe-Hotels-Redworth-Hall-Hotel.h517266.Hotel-Information) > > [Lake View](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Keswick-Hotels-Lake-View.h5366622.Hotel-Information) > > [The Lodge In The Vale](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Keswick-Hotels-The-Lodge-In-The-Vale.h11899654.Hotel-Information) > > [DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham-Cotswolds](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cheltenham-Hotels-Doubletree-By-Hilton-Cheltenham.h65899.Hotel-Information) > > [Harbour Hotel Christchurch](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Christchurch-Hotels-The-Christchurch-Harbour-Hotel-And-Spa.h18097.Hotel-Information) > > [Ufford Park Woodbridge Hotel, Golf & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Woodbridge-Hotels-Ufford-Park-Woodbridge-Hotel.h12685.Hotel-Information) > > [Cambridge Belfry Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cambridge-Hotels-Cambridge-Belfry.h1103020.Hotel-Information)
