Kells Bay is an old picturesque fishing village situated halfway between Glenbeigh and Cahersiveen. It is a quiet and peaceful place undisturbed by recent developments and is home to Kells Beach, one of Kerry's Blue Flag beaches. The beach contains many rock pools to explore, fascinating for children. There are beautiful views of Dingle bay and the Blasket Islands from this region. To get the best views you need to head to an area close by called "mountain stage". From here with the mountains as a backdrop (old railway tunnels run through the mountain from a bye gone era) you can get great views, weather permitting, of the coastline . The beautifully engineered "Gleesk Viaduct" (an old railway bridge) built in 1892 can also be seen from here. If you are into hill walking then a stage of the "Kerry Way" passes here, an ideal days activity. Also in the area you will find Kells Bay Gardens. An old Victorian Garden containing one of the foremost collections of Southern Hemisphere sub-tropical plants in Europe, assembled from Australia originally but more recently from New Zealand and South America. Close by is Kells Bay House and Gardens with almost 18 hectares of sub tropical planting and forest. There are over 3 km of walks in the various different areas of the Gardens, with a picturesque waterfall at the garden entrance. Well worth a visit and also has a coffee shop and Thai Restaurant, perfect for lunch or dinner. ## Property amenities ### Internet - Available in the house: Free WiFi ### Parking and transport - Onsite parking options include a garage ### Kitchen - Coffee/tea maker - Cookware, dishware, and utensils - Dishwasher - Electric kettle - Hob - Ice maker - Lobster/crab pot - Microwave - Oven - Paper towels - Refrigerator - Spices - Toaster ### Bedrooms - 4 bedrooms - Bedsheets provided ### Bathroom - 4.5 bathrooms - Bathtub - Hair dryer - Shower - Toilet paper - Towels provided ### Living spaces - Fireplace - Living room - Wood stove ### Entertainment - Books - Games - Smart TV with cable/satellite channels ### Outdoor areas - Barbecue grill - Garden - Outdoor furniture - Patio ### Laundry - Laundry facilities - Washing machine ### Work spaces - Desk - Desk chair ### Comfort - Heating ### Pets - No pets allowed ### Suitability/Accessibility - Smoke-free property - Note from host: Please no smoking inside the house ### Services and conveniences - Iron/ironing board ### Location highlights - In a rural location - Near a hospital - Near the marina - Near the sea ### Things to do - Birdwatching nearby - Ecotours nearby - Fishing nearby - Golfing nearby - Hiking/biking trails nearby - Horseback riding nearby - Kayaking nearby - Motor boating nearby - Mountain biking nearby - Mountain climbing nearby - Snorkelling nearby - Surfing/bodyboarding nearby - Swimming nearby - Wildlife walks nearby ### Safety features - Carbon monoxide detector (host has indicated there is a carbon monoxide detector on the property) - Smoke detector (host has indicated there is a smoke detector on the property) - First aid kit - Fire extinguisher ### General - Garden - Unit size: 2,750 square feet ## Similar properties ![Cottage | Private kitchen | Dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster, cookware/dishes/utensils](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/79000000/78630000/78620100/78620051/75610bd0.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### 11 An Seanachai Holiday Homes Dungarvan - Kitchen - Washing machine - Pet-friendly - Free Wi-Fi £468 includes taxes & fees 27 Feb - 28 Feb [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-02-27&endDate=2026-02-28&selected=78620051&PinnedHotelID=78620051&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Exterior](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/49000000/48240000/48237100/48237089/4ab855b6.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Kinsale No 12 Kinsale - Kitchen - Fireplace [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-03-04&endDate=2026-03-05&selected=48237089&PinnedHotelID=48237089&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Outdoor dining](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/33000000/32820000/32816600/32816526/537b17cc.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Kinsale Coastal Cottage No 12 Kinsale - Pet-friendly - Parking available - Fireplace 10 Exceptional 4 reviews [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-03-04&endDate=2026-03-05&selected=32816526&PinnedHotelID=32816526&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Marina](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/106000000/105450000/105442600/105442528/7c799ea1.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Welcome to our family home in the bustling seaside town of Dungarvan. This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at this property. Michael is a great host and offered some great recommendations on what to do and where to eat. The location of this house is absolutely perfect! Every time we come back to the Emerald Isle we plan on staying here. The views are amazing and the house truly feels like a home away from home. Anyone planning on exploring the Ring of Kerry should stay here! ##### Matt F. Lots of room for everyone, comfortable, and gorgeous views. We loved the quiet and remote location. And it was also a great central spot for day trips. Highly recommend the hiking options nearby. The hosts were outstanding and had excellent recommendations for sights and restaurants. We can’t wait to come back! ##### Lee B. Stayed 5 nights in Apr 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Matt F. 24 Sept 2019 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Couldn't have picked a better place! The house was more than I could have ever imagined! Upon arriving to the house we met the housekeeper, Catherine. She was sweet and very informative. This was the first trip to Ireland for my wife and myself and the location of the house was perfect for everything we wanted to see and experience. The house is located in an International Dark Sky Reserve so on a clear night the views of the sky are simply breathtaking. If you're looking to explore the Ring of Kerry then this is the rental for you. We give it a 12 out of 10 and definitely would love to come back in the future! ##### Matt F. My family of 5 had a fantastic stay! The house is beautiful and clean. I found myself going from room to room enjoying every fantastic view. The home is well appointed with everything you might need. Great location, just off the Ring of Kerry. Michael is a friendly and responsive host. ##### Diane F. Stayed 5 nights in Jul 2019 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Lesley V. 22 Apr 2019 #### Perfect Gem What a beautiful home! It was a perfect place for us to both relax and see the beauty of the Kerry Coastline. This home is away from it all, yet completely modern in its conveniences. It was spacious enough for the 6 of us, with room to spare. The western sunroom was a perfect place to enjoy coffee or tea in the morning, while taking the extraordinary landscape. The weather complied, and we had blue skies for several days, allowing us to take walks and hikes in the surrounding hills. We loved the sheep that were roaming around and were lucky enough to see many of the baby lambs as well. It is also close enough to drive the Ring of Kerry and to visit the nearby Dingle peninsula. Catherine was very kind and welcoming when we arrived, and showed us around and how things worked. We can't speak highly enough of this beautiful Kerry treasure. Thank you, Michael for opening your home to us! ##### Lesley V. Stayed 5 nights in Apr 2019 ---
