This area is the heart of Kathun, offering the most convenience and access to local life. You'll find the main market, local eateries, and small shops concentrated along the canal and the main road that runs parallel to it. It's easy to walk around and get a feel for the local community.

For most travellers, especially those looking to experience local culture and cuisine, staying near the canal is ideal. You'll be close to where the daily activities happen, giving you a genuine glimpse into Kathun life.

The best time to visit Kathun is during the cool and dry season, which runs from February to April.

During these months, the weather is generally pleasant with lower humidity and less rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Temperatures are comfortable for outdoor activities, and the rivers are typically calm, superb for kayaking or rafting.

This period is particularly good for families looking for an adventure holiday. The drier conditions mean easier access to national parks and waterfalls, and the rivers are at a good level for guided rafting tours suitable for various ages.
