Perfectly reasonable for the money

The hotel is well-situated, about a 15 min walk from the station. Our room was spacious and well sound proofed, so we slept well. The room is what you'd probably expect for such a cheap price, with the decor not in the best condition. The shower was good but the toilet is situated such that anyone with long legs can't shut the door in the seated position! The staff were attentive and informative, which was appreciated in our efforts to get to Ani.

The staff deserves extra praise in this review - more on that below. As for the hotel and our room: An all-around excellent value and centrally located on the corners of two main commercial streets in Kars. Our room [#305] was clean, bright and quiet. It featured a window facing the main street but it was still peaceful and quiet. The window blind worked good to shade any direct sunlight. Beds were clean and comfortable with a bedside table between them. The Wi-Fi connection was strong and the upload and download speeds were excellent. Plenty of hot water throughout the day and night. The bathroom featured a cubicle shower, which isn't always a given at this price range in Turkey. All four of the staff members we met at the front desk were professional and friendly from check-in to check-out. I paid in cash and therefore asked for a receipt of payment. There may have been a minor misunderstanding regarding this, but the staff members went above and beyond to fulfill my need for a receipt of payment. I'm not sure if there was a slight language barrier with my request for proof of payment in cash, or if getting a receipt for this type of payment is not typical in Turkey. Indeed, I was given a proof of payment in cash, but I got the impression the staff actually had to go out of their way to provide me with the printed-up document they gave us. They did this in a very, very kind and professional manner and we simply cannot thank them enough for their customer service.

The room was small but had everything I needed. The linens were clean, as was everything else. I’m quite sporty, so I had no problem climbing up to the fourth floor, but anyone with mobility issues should keep this in mind. The staff were truly friendly, welcoming, and always helpful! I even got sick during my stay, and they assisted me with such kindness. Many thanks from the heart!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent. The room is perfect and warm in the winter, the bathroom is acceptable for this budget friendly price. In general we recommend this room if you are traveling on a budget.

Good value for the price. Check in was easy, room was clean, beds were comfortable. Wifi was intermittent. Worst thing about the room was that it stank of cigarette smoke. Also no kettle.

Small staircase, no lift. Thin walls, no noise isolation. Smoke from other rooms fills the corridors and your non-smoking room too. The bathroom has mold all over the place, small shower with no soap/shower gel let alone shampoo. Small toilet with ill-fitting seat. Avoid if possible, not worth it even at this price.
