Very homely personal attention from Pathi and Suba and their staff. Delicious home-cooked meals prepared in their large family kitchen. Rooms very chic, beds incredibly comfortable. Bathroom amenities also great.

Lovely guesthouse with jungle views
We had a lovely stay at Hathana House. The rooms are very spacious & the views are great. It’s not walking distance from Kandy, however it’s not far & about $2 CDN in a tuktuk to the town. The hosts made a delicious curry for dinner and provided a great breakfast in the morning!

The Perfect Stay
It was the perfect place to start my trip in Sri Lanka. The place is clean and rooms are spacious with a well functioning AC. The food they serve is great, home cooked meal feeling. As this was my first stay in Sri Lanka, they help me organized better my trip, and went out of his way to help me get a window seat at the train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella and this was priceless.

I had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Hanthana House. Nestled in the hills, each room has a great view of the surrounding greenery. The host was welcoming from the minute I arrived. The home cook dinner was one of the best meals I had in Sri Lanka. The host also helped arranged for a driver and guide to Dambulla and Sigiriya. My guide, Ayesh, was super knowledgable, extremely patient, and a safe driver.

Lot of room for improvement
Our overall experience was mediocre. If not for the service of two employees, it could have been worse. The owner was interested in our ranking more than the service they provided. There was bed linen hanging outside our room to dry. The bathroom is sub par, and there were cockroaches in the cupboard. When told about the spiders, he did not seem to care much about it. However my ranking of the facility was purely because of the exemplary service provided by the kitchen and service staff, Kusuma and Nuwan respectively. They were exceptional. Overall this facility has a lot of room for improvement to reach the level a hotel or even a home stay.

Friendly hosts and yummy meals! Small room but had everything we needed. No tea and coffee making stuff but the hosts happy to provide! Very long windy drive to get there and the view was ok but not amazing! Would stay somewhere closer to town next time!!

Clean and comfortable hotel
Room is clean and bathroom is reasonably big. Our room has a big balcony and good view over the hill. The house is big with a room balcony for yoga. Staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is located furthest at the end of the road. A little difficult to find at night and can only be accessed by car. We really like the place overall.

Great view, lovely rooms
Lovely newly built rooms with great view over the hillside. Family feeling and super helpful owners. It’s not within comfortable walking distance from the city center so you’ll most likely need to take a tuktuk (approximately 400lkr) just ask the owners for help ordering one.

A quiet oasis near to Kandy
We had a lovely stay at Hanthana House. Pathie and his staff were charming and helpful without being overbearing or pushy. They gave us good advice and helped us to plan trips. A little out of Kandy but for us that was more pleasant

Great hotel in Kandy
We had a wonderful stay !the hotel is very quiet ...lovely clean air !food home cooked ....probably the best we had in Sri Lanka ...all your plans can be arranged from here ....good drivers .....and a very freindly host and family ....we even saw a small deer from our balcony !.....would definitely go back to visit Kandy and the area around ....and stay here. !

Quaint guesthouse in the hills overlooking Kandy
Nice guesthouse with beautiful views out over and beyond kandy. The room was comfortable and large and the family running it were very accomodating taking us out for a sunset walk after arriving. The breakfast and dinner were authentically homemade, plentiful and great value for money.

We would recommend this home stay , the owners are extremely helpful and can organise anything for you and nothing is two much trouble , it's up a hill and defiantly tuk tuk ride which the owner has on call , great place to stay and great value

Very well kept guest house with friendly family.
The hospitality of the owner and his wife at Hanthana House were outstanding. Firstly, all of the meals were delicious and the hostess explained to us how they were cooked and prepared. We had problems obtaining train tickets to Ella but the owner went out of his way to ensure that we had train tickets and a driver for part of our journey to Ella who took us to a tea plantation. It was a fabulous day and all thanks to the owner of Hanthana House - we cannot thank him enough. The room we stayed in was elegant with beautiful views down the valley - it was a haven to retire here in the evenings after a busy day in Kandy.

Best curries and good service!
Good service and amenities. The food was excellent, best dinners in Sri Lanka so far!! Loved the okra and banana flowers, delicious. The location is a bit far from Kandy city, certainly too hilly to walk anywhere. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

A nice getaway from the busy city.....
Set in the hills overlooking kandy...... a nice calm place to relax from the days events of kandy city..... I stayed for 2 nights and ate dinner here which was a traditional curry.....owner was very knowledgeable and will organise tours if you wish.....

Great little place.
The family owners were super nice, room was very nice. Took a bit to find the place, but that is Sri Lanka for you. Bathroom shower still had a bit more work to be done as it was a lot of just plain cement, but can't complain as still amazing room otherwise for price. I would definitely come back when in area.

Schöne Unterkunft in ruhiger Lage!
Das Hanthana House ist ein wenig vom Stadtzentrum entfernt auf einem Hügel gelegen. Die Lage ist optimal, da die Stadt sehr laut ist. Mit dem Tuktuk kommt man aber schnell ins Zentrum. Die Zimmer sind schön, gepflegt und sauber. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Aussicht auf die Hügellandschaft, was sehr schön war. Das Essen zubereitet von den Gastgebern war fantastisch, es gab auch immer ein reichhaltiges Frühstück. Die Unterkunft ist für den Preis unschlagbar!

Amazing Hous in the Mountains
This modern accommodation is reachable via a 15 min TukTuk - Ride from Kandy Center (~300-400 Rupee). When we arrived we were welcomed by the super nice host and his wife with a fruit drink and a sandwich. What makes this place truly special is not only the amazing view but the Homestay experience. The owner gave us a free upgrade, tips for the city and ordered us a very good TukTuk - driver (400 Rupee) to the city. Besides the great complimentary breakfast, there‘s also the option for a typical Sri Lankian dinner (7$, quite pricey but definitely worth it!). The dining room is next to the kitchen, so we could have a nice talk with the owner‘s wife who is the chef. The room is clean, has mosquitoes nets and is very comfortable. Furthermore, the private bathroom is modern and hygienic. Additionally the balcony is very nice. Extra Tip: Next to the house is a beautiful view point reachable in a 20 min. walk from the house. Ask the helpful owner about it, it’s an amazing point to look at the sunset (Don’t forget your flashlights for the way back though..) We would definitely recommend this accommodation and want to say thank you for an unforgettable stay!

The hotel located at the hill of residential area, about 15-20 mins to center Kandy. need to have a good vehicle to climb up to the hotel. have a good view to see the green mountains and hear many birds sing in the morning.

Endroit très agréable au calme
Une très belle maison située dans un environnement calme. Un accueil chaleureux par les hôtes. La maîtresse de maison prépare une cuisine familiale typique très bonne que ce soit pour le petit déjeuner ou le dîner. La chambre très propre donnait sur une grande terrasse avec vue sur la nature. L’emplacement nécessite un moyen de transport pour visiter Kandy.

Trevligt boende i lugn och vacker omgivning
Bodde här i 2 nätter. Boendet ligger på en höjd ovanför Kandy. Området är lugnt med vacker utsikt. Det är ganska långt om man ska promenera ner till själva Kandy men transport med tuk tuk ordnas lätt. Ägaren är tour operator och ordnade med en hel dags rundtur med tuk tuk som tog oss till flera sevärdheter och utsiktspunkter. Han ordnade även resa till Ella till hyfsat pris. Boendet är relativt nybyggt så det ser fint ut. Rummen fina med sköna sängar, finns fläkt och välfungerande A/C. Dusch med varmt och kallt vatten. WiFi fungerade bra. Balkong finns. Vi bodde högst upp och hade fin utsikt. Vissa rum längre ner har troligen inte lika bra utsikt. Ägarna/personalen var trevliga och väldigt serviceinriktade. Frukost ingick i priset och var bra, dock inte riktigt lika bra som de andra ställena vi bott på. Den bestod av liten frukttallrik, stekt ägg/enkel omelett utan fyllning, toast, smör och marmelad samt kaffe/te. Vi åt 2 middagar här och det var väldigt gott och billigt. Frun i huset är intresserad av matlagning och lägger ner mycket tid på att få det bra. Hin gör allt från grunden. Om man vill handla något eller äta på något annat ställe måste man ta sig ner mot Kandy. Skulle tänka oss att bo här igen om vi återkommer till Kandy igen

静かな山の上のホテル
キャンディの中心地からトゥクトゥクで10分くらい、400〜500ルピー。 道中、キャンディの街を見下ろせます。 ホテルの造りは木がたくさん使われていて温かみがあります。 共有スペースの雰囲気が大好きで、ほとんどの時間をそこで過ごしました。 家族経営なので、ホームステイ気分が味わえます。 朝と夜ごはんは先に頼んでおけば、500ルピーで食べられます。レストランで食べるごはんより美味しかったです。お母さんたちの笑顔がかわいくて顔を見るたび、ホッとしました。 大きなリゾートホテルとは違った滞在が楽しめます。最後の日は淋しくて泣きそうになりました。 ※オーナーがツアーなど勧めてきますが、初めにきちんと断れば問題ありません。

Этот отель расположился на горе, и не так просто разыскать его на местных узеньких дорожках. Но отель сам по себе очень хороший! Владеет им большая семья, все члены которой всегда рады помочь и накормить как надо!

Sehr gut aber abseits gelegen
Die Unterkunft ist ein neues Haus in den Bergen, südwestlich von Kandy gelegen. Die Fahrt dorthin ist etwas beschwerlich, wobei man mit dem Tuk-Tuk für 400 - 500 Rs gefahren wird. Die Familie ist sehr sehr freundlich und das Essen (Rice and Curry) ist sehr gut. Allerdings gibt es keine Auswahl. Man sitzt an einem der beiden Essenstische in der Küche - sehr kommunikativ mit den anderen Gästen. Die Zimmer in der obersten Etage sind sehr gut, auch wenn die schmale Terrasse keinen Tisch mit Stühen hat. Die Entfernung zu Kandy ist aus unserer Sicht aber eher von Nachteil, insbesondere da es auch mal schlechtes Wetter gibt. Eigentlich schade, da die Besitzer sehr freundlich sind,

Hätten wir unsere Tour anders geplant und wären länger in Kandy geblieben, hätten wir das Hanthana House noch länger genießen können. Es liegt zwar etwas außerhalb, aber eine kurze Fahrt mit dem Tuk Tuk für 400lkr später ist man dort. Aufgrund der Strecke ist die Fahrt auch ein kleines Abenteuer. Und außer ein paar Tierstimmen hat man absoluten Ruhe. Es ist dort oben auch lange nicht so heiß und stickig wie in der Stadt. Die betreibende Familie ist durchweg freundlich und hat auch viele Tips für die Reise parat. Die gesamte Familie, von Großmutter bis Enkel lebt dort und man ist eine zeitlang ein Teil davon. Die Zimmer erfüllten unsere Ansprüche und die Beschreibung zu 100%. Überrascht hat uns zudem die fast 40qm große sonnige Terrasse vor unserem Zimmer. Das vor den Augen zubereitete Essen war super lecker und es gab so viel, wir haben es nicht geschafft. Dafür zahlt man zwar etwas mehr als in den übrigen Restaurants aber es war es wert. Das Hanthana House können wir nur weiterempfehlen.

Betrokken en goede service!
Mijn vriendin en ik kwamen aan na een lange busrit vanaf Trincomalee. 6 uur staan en zitten in de propvolle bus, terwijl we beide last hadden van een "reizigersbuik". In het hotel werden we meer dan hartelijk ontvangen en is er door Mr. Pathirana en zijn familie (?) bijzonder goed voor ons gezorgd. Zowel qua eten en flexibiliteit als trips naar Kandy. Een eerlijke, inspirerende man! Waren alle guesthouses maar zo!

Schönes guesthouse in den Bergen von Kandy, leckeres Frühstück inklusive. Abendessen dazu gebucht, ebenfalls sehr gut. Sehr nette Familie die uns bei Ausflugsplanung und auch Weiterreise sehr geholfen hat. Jederzeit wieder.
