It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Inexpensive place with friendly staff

This is an extremely budget friendly place and you get what you pay for. There's little privacy, you'll pay to use the kitchen, it's pretty dirty, and it's far from the center, but if what you need is a cheap spot, look no further! On the plus side, the staff was friendly, it's not far from the big Buddha overlooking the city and the wifi worked great.

Nice clean hostel close to city center

Very nice and clean hostel close to city center and bus station (10min. walk). Nice budhist temple 100 m from the hostel. Hostel has nice terrace with good view. It is very good choice to accomodate in Kandy
