This area is the main base for visitors. It's a collection of lodges and guesthouses directly on or very close to the river, offering immediate access to wildlife cruises. The landscape is dominated by mangrove forests and oil palm plantations. It's a rural setting, so expect a quiet experience focused on nature.

Couples looking for a memorable nature retreat will find this area ideal. The lodges here often offer package deals that include accommodation, meals, and guided river cruises, making for a seamless and romantic experience. You're right on the doorstep of the Klias Wetlands, known for proboscis monkeys and fireflies, great for evening boat trips.

For families, staying in one of the riverside lodges is also an excellent option. Many lodges have family-friendly rooms or chalets, and the guided activities are suitable for all ages.

The best time to visit Kampung Klias Kecil is during the dry season, which typically runs from March to October.

During these months, you'll experience less rainfall and brighter skies, making it ideal for outdoor activities and wildlife spotting. The rivers are generally calmer, which is superb for river cruises to see proboscis monkeys and fireflies. The drier conditions also make exploring the surrounding nature reserves more comfortable.

For travellers keen on wildlife photography, the dry season offers clearer light and better chances of spotting animals, as they tend to congregate near water sources. The evenings are usually pleasant for relaxing after a day of exploration.

While you can visit during the wet season (November to February), you should expect more rain and potentially higher river levels, which might affect some activities.
