Top Kampsheide Hotel Reviews

DreiMädelHaus - Restaurant & Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"A bit out of the way but well worth the detour. Dinner was excellent - and MASSIVE! Wines were very reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent and at €8 for residents, very good value."

Bakery

8/10 Good

Large 120sqm apartment in a quiet, secluded location in the countryside with garden/loggia

8/10 Good

Large Vacation & Worker Accommodation | 104 m² | 4 separate rooms Sleeping Areas | 2 Parking Spaces

8/10 Good

Apartment in medieval castle from the 14th century on the Weser cycle path

10/10 Excellent

10/10 Excellent

"This was our third stay at Altstadt Apartments but first time in this large family apartment. It’s wonderfully bright, spacious and airy with a well equipped kitchen. It looks as good as in the photos. We would’ve liked a room number at the door to make it easier to locate our room especially when arriving late at night in the dark. The main bedroom is upstairs with a narrow stairway so that might be unsuitable for someone with mobility issues. The main bed isn’t the most comfortable and the room is a bit too warm. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kampsheide?

The best area to stay in Kampsheide is the village centre, particularly around Hauptstraße, for its convenience and access to local amenities.

The village centre is the heart of Kampsheide, offering a selection of guesthouses and holiday flats. Hauptstraße, the main road running through the village, is where you'll find most of the local shops, bakeries, and traditional German restaurants. It's a compact area, making it very walkable, and provides a pleasant base for exploring.

For couples seeking a relaxing break with easy access to good food and local culture, staying in the village centre is ideal. You can enjoy strolls to local eateries, visit the small village church, and easily access walking or cycling paths that lead into the surrounding heathland.

Families with children might also find the village centre appealing due to the proximity of essential services and the ease of getting around. Many guesthouses offer family rooms or apartments, and the local shops make self-catering straightforward.

When is the best time to go to Kampsheide?

The best time to go to Kampsheide is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the natural beauty of the Lüneburg Heath is at its most appealing.

Late spring offers comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 20°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling through the blooming heathland. The landscape begins to burst with colour, with various flowers and plants coming into bloom, creating picturesque scenery. This period is great for travellers who enjoy exploring nature on foot or by bike without the heat of mid-summer.

Early autumn, specifically September, is particularly special as it's when the heather on the Lüneburg Heath is in full bloom, painting the landscape in stunning shades of purple. Temperatures are still mild, usually between 12°C and 18°C, and the air is often crisp and clear. This time of year is especially popular with couples seeking a romantic getaway amidst the beautiful natural surroundings, as well as photographers looking to capture the unique colours of the heath.
