Good hotel except bathrooms
MacKinnon suites is nice hotel in a good location in Kampala close to all attractions, suites are spacious with good amenities except bathroom they have to upgrade it because it's really very basic and not in harmony with the hotel rate, shower very small not well functional pretty dark,

Nice stay, helpful staff. Very spacey. Internet fast enough for streaming, great! Several things broken in the bathroom - lamp over sink; shower basin (so water is running out; 1 door of shower lacking.

Overpriced Old property. It’s not what it claims to be. Better places just round the corner for a better price. Staff wasn’t helpful. $ 30 charges for a second person even if the room is booked as a king room with declared 2 occupancies was a surprise. On the positive side Carrie from the reception was perticularly helpful in communicating with me about an item I had left behind.

Never again
The property is falling apart. Room flooded, towel rail fell off wall, windows in replacement room leak. To add insult to injury they charged me for the food that had been plated for 45 minutes whilst we relocated from the flooded room. The wine list is a work of fiction as only one bottle is in stock. The staff try hard but it´s a battle they can´t win. Avoid - I will never return.

Almost no hot water
the bath .... I checked in almost 11pm, and the hotel kept the room's hotwater system off, so when I checked in, no hot water at all. I had to wait two hours for a five minutes shower. shower has very low water pressure and hot water tank is so small that you don't have enough hot water. house keeper kept turning the boiler off during the day, so every night you come back to the room, you have to wait two hours to shower at night. I don't understand why they turn it off when they knew that there's someone checking in or staying. When you write to the hotel, they never reply, and when you call them, the number on the website is a wrong number... very very unprofessional.

A superb option
A really good stay and an option that I would definitely use again. Brilliant location, good value, some very good service. And some exceptional service. Josephine in the bar/restaurant is a rare talent.

I enjoyed every encounter I had at this hotel. Staff friendly, gracious, accommodating. Services I needed were available. Internet a little spotty at times. Used laundry services which were good. The bar/lounge area was a bit too dark in the evenings. Food and drinks were good.

A very bad hotel
We stayed at this hotel two days ago. It was one the worst hotels to stay. There are no lights it is dark and dingy..The staff are very good but that’s all. In breakfast time there is a limit of two cups of tea or coffees. The rooms are not good. Nothing gets done. There are lots of mosquitoes. You get eaten alive day or Night. We do not recommend it to any one as we had the worst nightmare . Although it is given 4 star it is not . It is two stars. More like likely.

Hotel was good value, in a good location, the room was extremely large and breakfast included a wide selection which changed each day. Only cons would be the towels which could be more comfortable, also we were only provided 1 bath towel despite reservation being for 2. Additional towels were provided each day upon request.

Huge rooms, good staff. shower not brilliant.
I booked a suite and the room was huge, clean and tidy. The staff were great. The restaurant and the breakfast was fine. On the negative side. The water pressure was a little poor and there was no stand up shower, it was a bath with a mixer. I didn’t use the kitchen but it looked well enough equipped. At times it appeared I was the only person staying there.

Comfortable stay

Fantastic stay in a great location!
Great option in Kampala- I’m surprised it’s not more crowded. My company usually booms me at the Serena but I decided to stay here instead and what a great decision! I’ve been here about 10 days and I’ve felt much more settled than a typical drab hotel room. Very roomy apartment-style rooms with an equipped kitchen. The staff are amazing and very attentive, I will always use this hotel from now on! I highly recommend this hotel for the price, location, and service. Beautiful views and a gorgeous bar in an atrium.

Convenient Location + Super friendly staff
I continue to book my stay here during my trips to Kampala because of the incredibly helpful staff. Their friendliness is simply contagious. It also helps that it's located in the heart of the city, close to the business community.

Great accomodation in a convenient location
I spent a night at the Mackinnon Suites during a recent business trip. The room was surprisingly large, with great amenities. I particularly liked the gentleman at the front desk, Joseph. He was extremely helpful and contagiously cheerful!

Great location, but poor cleaning services
The facility is fairly new, but the hotel maintenance stuff can't clean, hence the rooms are dirty! The bathtubs are stained, so its a health issue! Towels issued are brown and stained. They used to be white towels, but because of poor maintenance, they are brown and disgusting! Front stuff, especially the girls, are not very welcoming, they argue with customers and sometimes are very RUDE!

Use to be my favorite place now I may think twice
I have stayed with MacKinnon many times but the last several times seems to be getting worst and worst. I had to change to a different room because the bathroom in the first room smelled like a sewer. I don't know if there was a sewer problem but it reeked. The second room didn't smell but it was much smaller and the sink leaked. I kept having to mop the water up. When I told the lady at reception she didn't seem to care. There was also a wedding reception that happened on Saturday. Needless to say when I came back there was not a single parking spot for the residence. Not good. Paint is peeling. Water damage. Leaky sinks. Sewage smells. It seems my frequent trips to Mackinnon may come to an end if something is not done.

The problem I faced was on day one, ac was not working and tap of wash basin was not working. On my complaint they were ready to change the room and they even changed my room but a day later they again asked me to change the room again which was very frustrating. The manager was not ready to understand my problem and said some one is already booked for that room, I stayed there for 3 more days but no didn't see anyone in that room. The manager promised me in the second time he made me move to a newer room that 4 People from his staff will help me. In packing, moving and unpacking, but to my surprise it was just one person so I had to do all thatand even had to move my bags from one room to another. When I asked him that he promised me 4 staff and no one turned but he had no answer and he just moved away. The good part is excellent location and good indian food. The chef is helpful. The hotel and room s are very clean. But in case you have to deal with the manager be careful, he is not the one who can be trusted and can change his statements anytime. They even charged us for taking print out. I don't know if they should or not. They have no business center, just one silly and slow computer in their office which after 3 requested was given to us for use..

Great but bring your repellent
My only issue was that I did not sleep because I was fighting with mosquitoes the whole night. No mosquito net. I would recommend you bring your own insect repellent because you may need it. Other than that the room is great. Customer service is good and breakfast was good too. I would stay again now that I know to bring my repellent.

Needs some upkeep and improvement
I've stayed here 3 times and unfortunately the hotel needs some improvement, especially the bathrooms. Maybe its just bad luck, but each time I've stayed there has been a problem with the shower - either broken, or on this last stay there was no water at all. The room size is very good, and the 1 bedroom apartment layout is comfortable.

The front desk staff are wonderful. The rooms are modern and very spacious. I love the kitchenette. There are some things which could be improved (poor breakfast, poor menu in general at the restaurant) but overall a wonderful place that I will come back to often.

No mosquito net. In Kampala. That is nothing short of negligent. I wouldn't stay here again without knowing this had been remedied. Fantastic location for business. Well finished. Food good. Service good. Security good. Staff committed. But until I can avoid malaria I'll pass. Weird mistake.

I stayed two nights for $310 USD. There is no pool and the gym sucks, the room was spacious and the bed considerable, there was a fridge, stove, large bathroom, two tv's, two ac, one very small safe, service was great, food average, parking limited...

Large rooms
The suite has large rooms and stocked kitchen. The place itself is a bit "tired looking" but clean. We were there over Xmas holidays and it appeared we were the only 2 people in the whole place. It was not until our last of 4 days we actually saw other people at breakfast. We never saw anyone else there! Staff was nice and friendly. Serves a good breakfast in morning but doesn't start until 7am. Only eat breakfast at this place; restaurant is not good.

High quality, decent price in center of Kampala
Stayed 3 nights. Great location - walking distance from Garden City, most of downtown. The rooms seem almost brand new - huge room with sitting area, desk, table, kitchenette, very well-equipped and comfortable, great bed. Food and coffee in the pleasant atrium restaurant were excellent. Best part - the staff - extremely helpful with all needs, lining up drivers, etc. Price was excellent for such quality in center of Kampala. We will stay here every time we go to Kampala.
