The best time to go to Kaldir is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October) to enjoy pleasant weather and fewer crowds.During these shoulder seasons, the temperatures are comfortable for exploring the Istrian countryside, typically ranging from 18°C to 25°C. You'll find the vineyards and olive groves at their most picturesque, either bursting with spring growth or rich with autumnal colours. This period avoids the peak summer heat and the larger tourist numbers, making for a more relaxed experience when visiting local wineries or truffle-hunting excursions. For couples looking for a romantic escape, these months offer a serene setting. You can enjoy long, leisurely meals at local tavernas, explore mediaeval hilltop towns like Motovun or Grožnjan without the summer rush, and take scenic drives through the rolling hills at your own pace. Many local events, such as wine festivals or truffle fairs, also begin in early autumn, providing a taste of local culture.Families travelling with younger children might also find these times ideal.
