HUGE 5 bedroom, 5 bath with Pool!! This wonderful beach house with private pool is perfect for all your vacation needs! Centrally located one short block from beach and walking distance to Magic Sands and Kahaluu Beach Park. Permitted 5 private bedrooms all with their own bathroom . The upper level has three bedroom suites two with plush king beds and a bedroom suite with a queen bed. On main level are two bedroom suites , one with a queen bed and two twins and one with a bunk bed and two twins. All of the rooms on the property are large and spacious. You have several dining room areas - an interior dining room, exterior lanai facing the ocean, a covered lanai adjacent to the kitchen, and private backyard deck with BBQ, loungers, seating, and swimming pool! The home features fully equipped kitchen, WIFI/High Speed Internet are provided. There is a huge flat screen TV in the living room and most bedrooms have TVs. We start you off with supplies as a courtesy, 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, paper towels, and soap. The home is decorated with tropical touches sure to bring a smile to your face. Beautiful grounds with private courtyard and garden are well maintained. There are many places on the property to sit back and relax; either privately or with your friends and family. This beautiful beach home is located on one of the quietest, relaxed, and established neighborhoods in Kailua Kona, and still is close to everything. You won't have to deal with the constant roar of traffic on Kailua Kona's main coast road - Alii Drive. It’s a short walk to three of the best beaches in Kona. The first is White sands beach which the locals call Magic Sands swimming, boogie boarding, and snorkeling in the clear blue water are a must... On the south end of the Beach Park is a secluded cove that is perfect for snorkeling or shore entry scuba diving with volcano swim thru tubes. In the center of the Park is an ancient Hawaiian Heiau (spiritual place). Short Walk south is the famous snorkeling beach, Kahaluu. Kahaluu offers easy access to the undersea population of green sea turtles and colorful tropical fish of every description. Gentle waves on the far side are great for easy surfing, with a surf shop across the street if you need lessons. After a glorious day in the sun, it is just a short stroll back to White Sands Beach to watch a spectacular romantic Kona sunset. Watch the sunset each evening from the comfort of your lounge chair, mai-tai in hand, on the lanai. FREE High-Speed Wireless Internet access is available to keep you in touch while you are away. Housekeeping Items: 1) The house has a very 'open layout concept', and windows, shades should be left open to allow the optimal wind and ocean flow through the house and various rooms. As the house is open and airy, if you leave dirty dishes and food lying around, we will not be responsible if it attracts ants, mice, mongoose, birds and rats.. The house is regularly bombed and pest sprayed. If your practice is 'clean' and 'tidy' you will not have any problems. The open concept allows the occasional native critters (like gecko) to pay guests a visit. This property may not be for you if you are afraid of our native friends. 2) There are no AC. The house is situated a block away from the beach - open the slider windows for cool ocean breeze to flow through the bedrooms. There are ceiling fans in the living room and the five bedrooms. 3) For security purposes, we do have exterior cameras (pool area plus external grounds). We do not hide their positions and they are in very visible locations. 4) We will send you a house rules/short term rental contract to sign prior to providing check-in instructions. Please have all adults of your party read and sign the form! 5) Complementary supplies: Guests are provided 2 rolls of toilet paper per toilet, 2 rolls of paper towel, some laundry soap/shampoo to get your vacation started. Highly recommend! This house is fantastic. We were two families (four adults, two 4 year olds, and a toddler). The kids loved the layout and the pool in the back was such a hit (we used it every afternoon). It really was a place they could 'explore' but well thought out screens and doors allow you to wall off areas (like the pool) to keep everyone safe. The kitchen was very well equipped, beyond what I am used to for most rental properties. It made making meals a pleasure, rather than a chore. Each family had their own room with their own bathroom. We got together in the living room/kitchen, and we can each retreat to our rooms whenever we wanted privacy. It was like a little hotel with 5 rooms. Each room had a lanai with tables and chairs. It was very cozy. We enjoyed the lanai area for dining because it was screened in to keep insects out. There was enough room for all of us to sit together for a meal. The house was walking distance to the beach, and we appreciated the use of beach equipment in the garage. The little ones used sand toys and there were plenty of beach chairs, even water shoes of all sizes. We also appreciated how the host responded immediately to our needs. The house was located a few minutes from a shopping center that had a large selection of local foods. We didn't discover this right away, so we mostly drove north to Kailua for our meals and groceries. We were too busy so we didn't use the pool. Thank you for a great time. With 5 bedrooms, everyone was comfortable and had not only a bed, but each bedroom has its own bathroom.The house is a two level in kind of a U shape. There is a huge table that fit everyone when we came together for dinner. Some enjoyed lounging by the pool, which was refreshing. The grill out there was heavily used for cooking our meals.The location is perfect. Less than a 15 minute drive to groceries, restaurants,… esp. in Kona. (\*Park at St. Michaels church for free)It’s a simple 5 minute walk north to Magic Sands Beach - with facilities, nice sand, and rocks that are perfect for sunset watching.If you walk about 15-20 minutes south, you reach a rocky park that has terrific snorkeling.The house does not have AC, but keeping the shutters and interior doors open (keep outside doors closed to keep bugs out) was perfect. It was warm going to bed, but rooms all have ceiling fans and an extra room fan to cool things down till the temps drop during the night.The kitchen is very well stocked with a great pantry. There’s also a cooler and a cooler water jug.The house had plenty of regular towels, dish soap, paper towels, napkins, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, laundry soap, dishwasher soap, beach towels. There’s a ton of games and Big Island guide books. Plenty of plates, silverware, etc.. for everyone.I can’t imagine a better place to stay. We had a wonderful stay -- the house was large to fit 3 families -- 2 sets of families with 4 kids ranging from 1.5-14 yo and 2 grandparents! Lots of room for us to all hang out as well as separated bedrooms so younger kids could go to sleep earlier while the rest hung out. Lots of different places to eat together - from the covered lanai to the outdoor patio to the indoor dining room. Location was perfect for our daily adventures and walks to beaches. Khanh was a wonderful host and communicated well and often -- and helped us address very minor issues. The neighbors are close by and you can often hear their music / or tv, but that's not the fault of the VRBO owner. We did have to call local police once to shut down a very loud party, past noise ordinance hours, which they did very promptly. Thank you for a wonderful stay! ##### Helen H. There was ample room for everyone to have their own nest, the large table always welcomed us at day’s end, and the location was exceptional. However, there were a few problems: some room fans did not work, the swimming pool had no ladder nor any safety equipment, the grill had only a high temperature (the burner unit had been destroyed,) there were only 5 wine goblets for the 6 adults, and the 9 forks meant that we had to wash up after every meal. There were not enough matching placemats and dishes. No complaint kept us from enjoying our stay. Our hosts were responsive every time we had a question throughout the booking period as well as during our stay. ##### Katie S. Ceiling fan blades were covered with accumulated dust. Very gross 🤢. At least the house was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, linen and towels. I also felt that we should of not had to was the towels. Isn’t that why you pay a cleaning fee? I feel we left the place cleaner than when we first arrived. The little kids really enjoyed the pool and the Roku tv in the main living area. The 8 older members did not use the pool and would have greatly enjoyed the cable on that main tv. Recommend they Put the Roku in one of the bedrooms. For football fans it was tough especially since two of the cable boxes didn’t work and the owner came to take them away, promising to bring new ones back. We did not see or hear from him again. There were plenty of towels, nice beds, two washer/dryers, two refrigerators, plenty of dishes etc. bathrooms and showers are plentiful. We barbecued once-worked fine. There are fans everywhere which help immensely and some plug in air conditioning units but it does get pretty warm upstairs. Nice neighborhood and well within walking distance of La’aola beach which was nice. We had a great family reunion-wonderful memories. ##### Julie S. Now onto the review. We'll try to be balanced in our comments. Good location, with easy access to shopping plus beaches. Also good access to highways for tours or excursions. Unique home plan with for us. We were a group of 8 with 2 kids 4 and under. Room to keep everyone happy. Tons of beach toys were made available for use by the guests. The hosts Dana and Joe were super helpful. We had a challenge with hot water and one text message had Joe promptly fixing the issue. They provided an info package that was very helpful. The ONLY thing that held us back from giving a higher rating was in our opinion, the property could a bit of a freshening up as well as a deep cleaning. To be fair this was our 1st trip to the big island so we may be ignorant to what one must pay to get "fresh and clean or like new". The place was not dirty but a good carpet and upholstery clean would be an assett in our groups' opinion. Thanks for your hospitality. ##### Dann L. Bedrooms are located conveniently and each has a private bath. The large table in the enclosed lanai is perfect for meals and games. A washing machine on each floor is a nice plus. Unfortunately, only superficial cleaning and maintenance are performed— this is a shame because with only a modest amount of effort this could be an outstanding rental. To their credit, the management is quite responsive to correcting deficiencies but only in reaction to complaints; proactive maintenance to ensure that the house is ready for guests is lacking. The excuse that maintenance needs are unknown until pointed out by guests is nonsense. A simple walkthrough is all that is needed to spot burned out bulbs, broken fans, and towel rods hanging atilt because the wall anchors are loose. Unusable deck chairs with missing webbing and broken springs hanging to the floor below a loveseat obviously need repair or replacement even to a casual observer. Likewise, cleaning is insufficient. Dirt buildup on top of the refrigerator, light globes filled with dead insects and waiving dust webs, dirt and insect debris in drawers and cupboards appeared to have been missed on more than one cleaning cycle. These deficiencies were not so great that our vacation was ruined — we still had a good time and enjoyed staying at the house. But given the rental costs, especially the cleaning charges, I expected more. ##### Paul U. This house is located near two beaches; size is big enough for our group of 15 people – 8 adults and 7 kids ranging in age from 1 to 15 years old. It is great that each bedroom has its own full bathroom. The dining room table was not big enough for our group. However, the outside dining table on the screened porch was big enough for us. The pack and plays, high chair and children's lifejackets were wonderful to have. Having two sets of laundry equipment was helpful for our large group. The furnishings at this property are outdated. This property needs some updating, a deep cleaning, some pest control and some repairs. Dining room and living room furniture is old and heavy. Carpet and upholstery needs some good cleaning. We found some cockroaches in bedrooms and ants in the kitchen. Some of the fan speeds cannot be adjusted and some ceiling lights are not working. This house is not air-conditioned. We relied on outside breeze and ceiling fans to cool off the rooms. Some days are humid and hot in the rooms even with all fans running. The back bedrooms can get really hot all day even with all fans running. Kids loved the above ground pool because it is small and shallow. It is only good for the adults as a dip pool. The kayak in the garage has a leak. Our adult children took it out to the beach and it flipped three times. They found it filled it water when they brought it ashore. Understand this kayak is not part of the rental but the owner should either put a warning sign on it or dispose of it altogether. Our flight was at 8PM and we requested for 5PM checkout. Owner granted a 1PM checkout without additional charge. However, there was a $300 charge for a 5PM check out. We paid the $300 so our grandkids could take a nap before the flight. ##### Gus C. The house needs some work: Several blinds broken with this being the only window covering privacy can be a issue. The last bedroom in the back of the house bed is terrible sunken in to the middle beds skirt ripped this bed needs replaced they tried just putting on a foam pad. The bathtub needs scrubbed you can scrape the sides and it's gross. Loved having two washers and dryers they came in so handy with a large family who packed light. Kitchen needs more frying pans other than that well equipped if you want to cook. Loved the grill we has a grill night. The pool was dirty when we came but on Tuesday they did have the pool guy there and it was cleaned. The outdoor shower by the pool spigot is leaking. The pool deck needs a lots of help and could be dangerous several broken pieces a few sticking up. We enjoyed the pool one day of our stay not very deep or big but was enjoyed 😀 👍. Loved the outside table we all used this area often. One of the chairs is broken on the inside table. Living room couch is a little dated. Loved that they had Netflix and Disney plus we had a two year old. They had plenty of fans house does not have air-conditioning I was a bit worried but going in January the nights get a bit cooler days are hot but we we're gone most days. Lots of extra things in the closet off the living room some baby things toys, extra fans, each room has its own ceiling fan and had fans in the closet. We loved all the extra thing like lawn chairs, umbrellas, ice chest, beach towels. With a little bit of love this house could be brought back to life. If you stay in the bedroom in the living room don't lock the door and the door to the bathroom no key was provided to us and we got locked out. Good thing it has a open space at the top 😉.
