Kona Lunapule 205B: Tranquil 2BR Retreat with Ocean Views

  • Kona Lunapule is centrally located in Kailua Kona, in the Island of Hawaii. It's just a short drive to local restaurants and shops along the coast of Ali’i Drive. This quaint complex features a communal pool and onsite parking. Upstairs you will find 205B; a quiet and comfortable 2-bedroom unit.

    Bask in the warm natural sunlight that enters the living area through the lanai sliding doors. Enjoy views of the ocean while you lounge on the lanai. Sit back and drink a cool beverage as you watch the gorgeous coastal sunsets that Kailua Bay has to offer.

    There is plenty of space to enjoy your breakfast, lunch, or dinner from the kitchen bar or the dining area. The kitchen comes equipped with cooking appliances and a dishwasher.

    The primary bedroom has a California king bed and a full walk-in tub and shower. The guest bedroom has two twin size beds with a full bathroom. This unit comfortably sleeps four people.

    Please note: This unit is upstairs and has no elevator and is not fully accessible for those with disabilities. While we also welcome children the lanai is NOT childproof. There is no AC but it has wonderful ocean breezes and fans to keep you cool.

    While we strive to keep all photos up to date, there may be new and updated pieces of furniture or décor that are different than in the original pictures. The functionality, available seating and sleeping space will remain the same or may improve.

This condo is so convenient to downtown Kona. Having two bedrooms and baths as well as full size washer and dryer made it very comfortable for our family. The view of sunsets from the back deck was amazing, and the pool is lovely. We really enjoyed our stay here!

Perfect Place for Vacation!

This property was so close to downtown Kona! Perfect location to go into town or on the main road to explore. Condo was clean and perfect size for my group of 4! There was no AC but they provide you with numerous fans. We opened up the screened in windows and sliding doors for more air and it was perfectly comfortable the whole stay day and night. They also provide beach amenities and a cooler that came in hand! 10/10 would stay again!

Well prepared, clean, interestingly located apartment, easy to use. Nice pool. Small remarks: It is worth repairing (lubricating) the lock on the entrance door because it is difficult to open and close. Also, the gate to the pool closes too hard by itself (it caused minor leg damage).

Good location

The two bed apartment was clean and had a fully supplied kitchen for meals. The unit is quiet even thought there are permanent tenements. There is road noise being close to the main road. Within walking distance to the town of Kona and beaches. The one negative is that the unit does not face the ocean, so don’t get a crossbreeez without running fans. Overall a good place to stay for the money.

Enjoyed our stay

We enjoyed our stay and it was only a 10-15-minute walk to downtown Kona. It would have been good to know that the Hele On shuttle was free, but we probably would have walked anyway because there was construction elsewhere on the route that made stop times unpredictable. The unit was clean and we enjoyed having the pool. It was a bit hot a couple nights, but otherwise had a good time and saved a little money by making a few meals in the kitchen. Of course we ate out too. It was a great vacation.

Convenient but...

If you can't tolerate heat don't stay here! Location is very convenient to Kona town, many places are walkable. Condo could use a facelift but was adequate, just did not cool down at night. Be prepared to be in a bit of a fishbowl with neighbors uncomfortably close close.

Kona week - a lovely island

The condo is well located, albait not exactly across the street from Holn beach, 4 minutes walk away, but still great. Very clean large rooms, lots of fans to help with the fact there is no A/C, but we were aware and accepted the fact before renting. Very close to the Hot Spots in Kona. Well equipped en the kitchen and comfortable beds and sheets. The only complaint, even though we were not there for that is the TV service has no Live TV. If you like old shows…

The property was exactly as expected. Clean, well appointed, easy to navigate check in, etc. We really appreciated the access to the beach umbrella and chairs! As the other readers stated the property was hot. We managed to get the fans sorted out and by day two it cooled off enough for us to rest well at night. Would still appreciate an AC.

Good location, good price

The place is clean and quite large for a place in Hawaii. I did not notice when I booked that there was no air conditioning. Except for the first night, when it was unbearably hot, that wasn't a problem. But I will be careful to check in the future for air conditioning. Also, you should know that one of the bedroom windows opens almost directly onto a fairly busy street. That's why I gave four stars for location and neighborhood.

Too hot to sleep!!!

Location is great. Condo was clean. You’re right next to main strip of Kona. However, none of that was enough to overcome the fact that this place gets too hot to enjoy. You can’t sleep until the middle of the night because there is no air conditioning. Several fans but they only blow hot air! We were miserable!!! Never again!! Hated coming back each night. I was going to pay for a hotel and abandon my rental it was that miserable.

It served its purpose

The condo served the purpose that we wanted. We wanted an inexpensive place that we could stay. The kids wanted their own room and bathroom and we could cook food. The neighborhood was close to the shops in Kona. It seemed safe. For the most part it was clean, but there was hair on the shower walls. The biggest thing is no AC. There has to be a way to add ac. Mini splits, window/wall units, etc. We would come back for the day and it was HOT. The kids room in the front cooled down but not the back of the house where the master bedroom was. It didn’t cool down until early morning. The biggest problem is we had to sleep with the door open, screen closed and blinds open to keep it cool. That didn’t give us any privacy. It would be really nice to have AC so you could put blackout curtains in there since the sun comes up so early.
