Newly enclosed private patio with tropical garden is a great place to relax and dine. Kona Bay Hale consists of a 2BR / 2 BA home with additional bunkbeds located in a separate alcove. Both king & queen bedrooms have A/C units. A queen sofabed in the living room allows sleeping for up to 8 people. An open and airy gourmet kitchen with dining room table that seats 8 has unencumbered ocean views looking out across the living room to open lanai. New TV’s in every room including a large HD TV in the living room. Master suite has a king bed with Jacuzzi tub and walk in shower. Second bedroom has a queen bed with adjoining bathroom. We rented this for the view, and it did not disappoint. We didn't get into the water from the backyard, but you probably could if you're ok with waves and rocks. Their Mini splits did a great job in cooling whatever room we were in. The washer and dryer worked great, and it was nice to have a good assortment of beach items.Our only complaints were: 1) would have liked a table on the lanai to play games, and 2) the neighbors were both doing remodeling projects so we had to listen to saws and drills while relaxing on the lanai. At 10 am on Saturday morning we were outside on the lanai having coffee and laughing. The neighbor came over and said we were too loud and he was going to call someone. We did not have music on or anything we were just laughing and chatting. I called the property manager and told him about the incident right away. Wayne the property manager was great to work with. We had a couple of houses rented as we had a few people in our family visiting the island. We stopped at the house to pick up people or to grab a cup of coffee or some food from time to time as we were not going to cook at both places. We did not have parties or wedding receptions or anything of that nature. The number of people staying in the house was 6 as per the contract. When I got home I did get a call from the property manager Wayne, saying that the neighbor had called the owners and the owners had called him. There was a complaint that we had too many people in the house and that we were too loud. I explained the situation again and all seems fine since we are no longer there (we were only there 1 week) but this has just been stressful. My sister and nephew have terminal cancer and this was to be the trip of a lifetime as it is probably the last trip we will take together. This incident caused stress and just really made our vacation unpleasant. Frankly to say that you cant have family over even for coffee or dinner is ridiculous. I understand not having parties etc. Anyway as much as I loved the house, view and location I would not rent this place again. I would work with Kona Sunset Vacation Rentals again as Wayne was professional, available and excellent to work with. I would just stay away from this particular house. ##### Irene D. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind! This property is close to shopping, restaurants, and a grocery store if you would rather cook instead of going out to dinner. It is a great base location for exploring the island IF you can peel yourself out of the chairs on the lanai overlooking the water. The house is well stocked with items to use in the kitchen, as well as things to use at the beach like towels, chairs, umbrellas, and snorkels. It’s rare when a rental lives up to expectations but this one was stellar and we wish we had had never left. Four adults comfortably stayed here for a little less than a week and I could see how a couple of kids could easily stay in the bunk beds. The rental was very stocked with dishes, towels, linens and it was so nice to have a washer and dryer! We spent most evenings watching the sunset and mornings watching the fish and surfers out front.
