About this property
Solace House · Borders JT Park, Pool, Hot Tub
Summary:
Solace House offers a Joshua Tree stay on ten secluded acres bordering the national park, with direct walking access from the backyard. Spend afternoons by the mountain-view pool and evenings around a sunken fire pit, then retreat to interiors layered in dark wood, natural stone and warm light. With four bedrooms and inviting spaces to gather, this is a desert escape designed for slowing down together.
The Space:
-Respecting the Desert & Dark Skies-
This home sits adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park and is surrounded by incredible wildlife, natural beauty, and some of the darkest night skies in Southern California. To help preserve this special environment and be considerate of our neighbors, we kindly ask all guests to keep music, conversations, and other noise at a respectful level throughout their stay.
This is not a party house. Please do not book this property if you are planning to party.
Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. All music must be turned off by 10:00 PM, and conversations should be kept at a low volume to avoid disturbing neighbors and wildlife. Only the property's built-in Sonos sound system may be used. Portable speakers, DJ equipment, amplified sound systems, and other external audio devices are strictly prohibited. Excess noise can result in county fines that will be passed on to you as the guest and the termination of your reservation without refund.
In support of Joshua Tree’s Dark Sky Ordinance and to minimize light pollution, all exterior landscape lighting automatically turns off at 9:00 PM each evening. For your convenience, we provide lanterns to help you safely navigate the outdoor areas after dark.
Thank you for helping us be good stewards of this unique desert environment. We look forward to hosting you and hope you enjoy a peaceful and memorable stay.
-The Space-
Inside the wood-clad home, the atmosphere is intimate and richly textured. Limewashed walls, dark timber ceilings, natural stone and sculptural lighting create spaces that feel collected rather than decorated. Oversized windows frame Joshua trees, rugged mountains and the changing desert light, making the landscape a constant presence even when you're indoors. The layout is equally thoughtful, with generous gathering areas and three private king suites that allow everyone to settle into their own rhythm.
Outside, the experience opens up across the surrounding desert. The pool terrace, sunken fire pit and outdoor dining area create a natural gathering place, while a yoga platform and stargazing net offer quieter ways to enjoy the surroundings. Solace House is one of two separate homes on the acreage, with no shared spaces.

-Outdoor Amenities-
The outdoor spaces at Solace House are designed to make spending an entire day at home feel like an occasion. The pool stretches toward the mountains, surrounded by warm-toned decking, relaxed floor loungers and Adirondack chairs. Take a swim with the desert spread out before you, then settle into the in-ground hot tub as the afternoon cools.
A few steps away, the sunken conversation pit creates a particularly inviting place to gather. Built-in seating wraps around the fire, offering a sheltered spot for long conversations as the last light moves across the mountains. As evening arrives, the pool and surrounding architecture take on a quieter atmosphere beneath the desert sky.
For meals outdoors, a generous dining table sits beneath the covered patio alongside a gas BBQ. It's an easy place to share a leisurely lunch or gather for dinner without losing sight of the landscape.
Beyond the main terrace, a dedicated open-air platform provides space for yoga, meditation or a private sound bath. The stargazing net bed invites you to lie back and take in the night sky. And for those who want to explore, Joshua Tree National Park begins directly beyond the backyard, making a morning walk into the desert part of the experience rather than a separate excursion.
The primary bedroom also enjoys its own patio and outdoor shower, a lovely way to start or end the day in the fresh desert air.
-Living Area-
The living room feels more like a thoughtfully designed private retreat than a conventional vacation rental. Deep olive-toned sofas surround a low wood coffee table, while a dramatic tiled gas fireplace anchors the room. Above, a large paper lantern glows against the dark wood ceiling, bringing softness to the rich materials and earthy palette.
A broad picture window frames the Joshua trees and mountains, making the view feel almost like another piece of artwork. The room is equally suited to an afternoon spent reading in the sunlight or a relaxed evening with friends.
A large Frame TV, built-in Sonos sound system, books and board games provide entertainment when you're ready to stay inside. The comfortable seating and generous layout make it easy to spend time together without feeling crowded.
-Kitchen and Dining-
The kitchen is a defining feature of the home's design. Dramatically veined Brazilian quartzite carries across the countertops, backsplash and island, complemented by dark wood cabinetry and integrated appliances. Everything feels carefully considered, from the natural stone surfaces to the understated hardware and warm lighting.
Beyond its appearance, the kitchen is comfortably equipped for preparing meals throughout your stay. Cookware, utensils, olive oil and spices are provided, along with a French press, drip coffee maker, coffee, tea and sugar. A separate wet bar offers a convenient space for preparing drinks.
The dining area brings a more relaxed warmth to the architecture. A substantial dining table sits beneath a sculptural lantern pendant, surrounded by wood furnishings and generous windows overlooking the desert. It's a wonderful setting for an unhurried dinner after exploring the park, with the nearby outdoor dining area offering another option when the weather invites you outside.
-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-
Solace House has four bedrooms and four full bathrooms, arranged to give families and groups a comfortable balance of togetherness and personal space. Three bedrooms feature king beds and private ensuite bathrooms, while the fourth has a queen bed and access to a full hallway bathroom.
The bedrooms carry the home's distinctive design language into more personal spaces. Rich textiles, warm lighting, carefully selected artwork and natural materials create an inviting atmosphere, with each room offering its own character.
The three king suites feature individual design details, from gold-toned artwork and richly colored pillows to sculptural accents, textured walls and woven lighting. Each includes built-in clothing storage and a desk, making it easy to find a quiet place to read, journal or catch up on work.
The primary king suite opens directly onto a private patio with an outdoor shower, adding another connection to the surrounding desert. Its outdoor access gives guests a peaceful place to enjoy the morning without returning to the main gathering areas.
The queen bedroom features a woven headboard and warm, layered furnishings. It uses the full hallway bathroom, which also serves the shared living spaces. All four bedrooms include dedicated desks.
Throughout the bathrooms, stone vanities, dark wood cabinetry and carefully chosen tilework continue the home's understated aesthetic. Individual finishes include a striking blue-tiled shower, richly patterned stone and warm natural materials, giving these practical spaces the same attention to detail as the rest of the home.
-Surrounding Area-
Joshua Tree National Park begins at the edge of the property, so early walks and golden-hour hikes start at the back door. Downtown Joshua Tree is close by for restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and galleries, and local experiences include guided hikes, rock climbing, horseback riding, stargazing, sound baths, yoga and massage.
