The Guest House is open and airy 1000 square foot studio on a private 4 acre gated property with beautiful north facing sunset views. The bedroom area has a queen sized bed and remodeled bathroom with shower. On the other side of the studio there is one or optionally 2 twin size beds that can be set up separately or also be pushed together for a Cal King size if needed. The living room area has a super comfy down-filled mid-century couch and ottoman in front of the fireplace. There is a stereo with AUX, Bluebooth, CD & DVD player, turntable, Alexa, and Apple AirPlay inputs connected to a large flat screen TV with Roku interface in the living area for all of your entertainment needs! An interesting selection of CDs, DVDs, records, and books are provided for use during your stay. Enjoy our cute kitchen is fully stocked with plates, flatware, glassware and starters for your meals and both a charcoal and propane barbeque grill outside. There is a private patio with with table and chairs and a fire pit that faces north and features beautiful views - especially great for star gazing at night! There is a secluded Jacuzzi J-LXL hot tub with lounge seat on a slab just a few steps off the patio. The location is private and sits amongst Joshua Trees and desert flora and offers panoramic views of the sunset, surrounding mountains, city lights, and amazing stars at night. There are 2 hammocks for lounging under a large shade tree next to the carport where you can park your car under cover. An Autel Level 2 40 amp EV charger with Tesla adapter is available. Mark, our host, was so accommodating. He was quick to answer questions, and very flexible when I needed to make last minute additions -- and then subtractions -- to my guest count. I felt like I was in good hands with him as the contact/host. I loved the cozy guest house. It was a kitschy, well appointed cabin under the stars! It was a quick drive to the main road that goes through town and hits all the fun shops restaurants, but isolated enough from the main drag that we felt like we had great privacy. A highlight was taking advantage of the hot tub in the cool December evening weather, with a fantastic view of the brush around us.I was such a fan of all the Pendleton blankets that were on offer to curl up with. A surprise desert rain storm fog were no issue at all because the thermostat was in great working order so we were very warm. The aesthetic of the guest house is just very charming. You can easily jog over to the Joshua Tree Northern entrance, and you're only a few minutes from the Western entrance- essential if you want to be in the park early to avoid the crowds. The guesthouse is comfortable with a good bed and a sofa right in front of the wood-burning fireplace. The hot tub at night under the stars is divine. Mark is ready to help with questions and needs, and the house is filled with games, entertainment and beautiful decor. If you want a nice place that is near everything, but not in the middle of everything, this is it. ##### Jill B. First, the communication, information, and directions were superb! Thanks Mark! Yes, it is down a dirt road but loved the location - away from the main road and a spacious yard/area but literally just minutes from everything you need. The retro vibe was refreshingly cool! If you want comforting, nostalgic, and retro - this is for you! The furnishings are funky yet comfortable. Kitchen is small but had everything we needed (cooked several meals). Layout is like a studio with the bed being in the same room as the living area (but set off a bit). Bed was super comfortable! Being able to listen to records was great. Used the hot tub twice a day during our stay - was perfect for getting set for a hike and then to relax after the hike. Location is convenient to the west entrance to JTNP. Everything was as it had been pictured in the listing: vintage and spotless. We really enjoyed spinning some records, playing a few of the retro games, relaxing in the hammocks, soaking in the hot tub and having a fire in the fireplace. Dave was a fantastic host, very responsive to any inquiries. He even had a three ring binder of helpful info on the kitchen table. It included practical info about the property, such as the check-out process as well as some nice-to-know information like his personally written reviews on local restaurants and nearby attractions. The property has a beautiful view of the mountains with an ideal view of the sunrise over the mountains with Joshua trees silhouetted in the foreground. I had the pleasure of watching a bunch of hummingbirds buzz around the flowering shrubs on the property while I was taking a soak in the hot tub. Other wildlife sightings included a few great horned owls which we saw roosting in a nearby as well as the black tailed jackrabbits they were hunting . I’ve never seen these birds so close. It was a real treat. We loved how quiet the property was while still being close to Joshua Tree National Park and some conveniences like restaurants/gas stations/grocery stores. Without a doubt one of the top 5 most relaxing and peaceful places I have ever stayed, and the price is a bargain for all that you get. The 70’s theme is done so well with top quality furnishings and artwork. The stairmaster, free weights, and other fitness equipment is such a bonus to have on site. The 2 hammocks outside are so comfortable and great for stargazing. The bed is very comfortable and the bedding is also top quality! There is a wide selection of music as well as DVD’s and a Roku. We did not use it but it has a working fireplace. The air conditioning cools quickly and holds a steady temp. But the absolute best feature is the jacuzzi. The powerful jets feel great but we enjoyed just sitting in the water looking at the stars with just the sound of the desert wind surrounding us.
