The hotel was extremely clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a ten minute walk to the main train station etc, and quicker in to town. The rooms are rather small, but alright for two people if you are planning to be out sightseeing most of the time! (There is however a lack of privacy in the bathrooms, with frosted glass doors that swing both ways, being both the bathroom door and the shower door,)
Wonderful 3 day stay at the Yay apartments, rooms are big and roomy, everything you need to make your stay pleasant, (tea/coffee machine, cups, glasses, plates, cutlery, pans, cleaning supplies, toiletries, towels) etc. The Jordan district where we were was ideal, not a commercial area, lovely little niche shops, cafes, bars and the transport links to the city centre were perfect, Gotta love the tram system!, would definitely stay there again.
This is a very comfortable and inviting apartment, conveniently located in a fun boutique area of the older section of Amsterdam. It's surrounded by good restaurants and small shops, and has a terrific small supermarket just a block away. There's plenty to do nearby and the major museums are within walking distance. We would highly recommend it to families or a small group - the beds can be configured as six singles or three doubles. We had no trouble connecting with the apartment manager and he provided good information on the city. Be forewarned, however, that there are two steep, narrow staircases that need to be negotiated within the apartment. This is only a problem if you have difficulty with steps or super sized luggage, however. Two of the rooms also face onto the street and there's a lot of noise well into the night since the waffle shop next door stays open until after midnight. Light sleepers should be sure to pack earplugs.
Leafy and quiet, Jordaan (pronounced 'your-darn') is Amsterdam's most fashionable village area. Old warehouses have been converted to chic apartments and some of the city's prettiest canals are lined with houseboats, charming 'brown cafes' and classy restaurants. Don't miss a stroll along the Egelantiersgracht and Brouwersgracht canals. Prinsengracht, home to the Anne Frank Museum, also boast delightful 'hidden' hofjes (almshouses).
