A great place to spend a night while passing thru. Cabin was cozy and had all you needed for a comfortable stay. Friendly staff and clean accommodations.
Great place to stay. Super convenient right next to Johnston Canyon . Cabin was very welcoming with gas furnace. Onsite restaurant and bakery was great to have.
No tv but they have dvds to watch… had some trouble with the dvd player that would get stuck halfway through the movie, otherwise I highly recommend this place.
Very cozy and comfortable accommodations. Bistro meal was delicious with very attentive and friendly staff! Access to the canyon trail from the cabin was convenient for avoiding the crowds.
Stayed 2 nights. Room clean and had amenities of up scale hotel, such as welcome wine, robes, blue tooth speaker and fireplace. Restaurant had good menu. Enjoyed the Falls located on the property.
Staying at Johnston Canyon Resort helped us avoid the crowds while hiking the Canyon later in the evening after we checked in. The family cabin had 3 beds small table and mini fridge and was a great fit for our family of 4. Mature trees around the cabins kept it cool. We enjoyed the bbq area and pickle ball court. This is a great place to stay to enjoy the outdoors without having to camp!
We had a great time. The cabin was very clean and is just steps away from a hike in the canyon. From our cabin we had a gorgeous view of the river and the hiking trail
This cabin is literally right next to the Johnston Canyon waterfall trails, which is a huge advantage .you can be on the trail in minutes without ever getting back in the car. The cabin itself is warm and cozy with great amenities, and it offers a welcome escape from the busy pace of city life. The BBQ, bike, and pickleball are lovely extras that make it easy to fill an afternoon without going anywhere. It's also a perfect base for breaking up the drive, whether you're heading out to Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, or the Icefields for a day trip. We'd happily stay here again.
Location was great and probably why it was expensive. Would liked the restaurant to be open earlier due to needing to be on the road due to crowds. Staff was very friendly. You are paying for location and ambience with this property.
Amazing setting in the forest. Walk out the door after having coffee ☕️ on the little porch, in your comfy Adirondack chair, and head up to the ink pots for a picnic lunch! Coffee at the cafe was wonderful!
We accidentally stumbled upon this place. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed our stay here. It is a beautiful property nestled in the mountain forest beside a creek, right in the heart of Johnston Canyon. The Johnston Canyon Trail starts directly from the property. The cottages were sophisticated and tastefully decorated, with a charming old-school vintage feel.
Location and character- Johnston Canyon Cabins and Bungalows captures these wonderfully. You are away from the chaos and noise of Banff town and yet close enough to drive there with ease for groceries. Well-situated between the national park sites in Lake Louise and Banff town, and directly adjacent to the marvelous Johnston Canyon. Rustic yet updated. We wish we could have stayed longer than our four nights and hope to return someday.
(Will note there is no onsite laundry capability, self-service or otherwise.)
LOVED our stay at Johnston Canyon Lodge. Check in was easy and loved the reception. Our cabin was quaint, rustic and clean as expected. The location is of course the star of the show with easy access to the Johnston Canyon hike and, assuming one starts early, a head start on the throngs of other visitors arriving later in the morning. Really special to have uncrowded time in the canyon in the morning and evenings. The on site restaurant... food is merely OK - but the staff was very kind and attentive. Highly recommend Johnston Canyon Lodge as a rustic alternative to very crowded Banff town.
We absolutely loved our stay at Johnston Canyon. The staff was very friendly and the cottage was immaculate. The food at bistro was delicious and being right next to Johnton Canyon trail was perfect. We would definitely recommend staying at this resort. You will not be disappointed.
Our cabin was spacious but the bathroom layout was odd - long and narrow. Probably a conversion of an old cabin. The restaurant was dated, but good food and delightful staff. Too bad cabins are so expensive!
Our Johnston Canyon bungalow exceeded every expectation! Triple filtered water to drink, well-appointed room, on site gourmet restaurant and general store with the best-tasting soft serve ice cream, located ON Johnston Canyon. We could’ve spent the entire week in that one locale, but we also took the Hop On Hop Off tour and other day trips, with Johnston Canyon being a perfect central location to return to each evening. The staff were super friendly and the bed was big and comfy! There was even a clawfoot tub, toiletries, and a blow dryer. It was a perfect place to enjoy the magnificent Banff National Park.
Cabin was well appointed. Shower was slippery and they had no bath mats available. Cafe was out of ice which was the only place to obtain it.
Staff was very friendly. Prompt response when we made a request.
Mosquitos everywhere - but that can't be helped.
The location was perfect. Could beat the crowds on the popular trails.
We loved staying in these cozy cabins!! They were clean and comfortable and so easy to hike before and after all the daily tourists. We enjoyed take out from the restaurant and borrowed free DVDs for family movie night. Also rented bear spray. Would highly recommend!
We loved this 'cabin in the woods'! This is a fantastic unique place - the rustic cabins are all within very close proximity to one another, so you don't need to worry about being too remote. It is very safe and family friendly. We also appreciated being able to roll out our door and onto the Johnson Canyon trail at 8am to beat all the tourist crowds. This is a huge perk. There is a fabulous restaurant on site serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. A pickleball court is on the grounds and they were in the process of building a sauna when we were there. The log cabins are very rustic, but extremely charming....like stepping back in time. Highly recommend having at least one night here.
