We had a fantastic stay. The lodge was just as described and had everything we needed and more. We felt so relaxed and did not want to leave. We are looking forward to going back.
Overall the property was as advertised. Plenty of space, clean, and well kept. Its quiet and off the beaten path. Im sure it would be very nice in the summer and fall as well.
This rental had absolutely everything we could want; comfortable seating, large dining room table, myriad activities for teens (Foosball, air hockey, etc.), plenty of sleeping accommodations, and an incredibly well stocked kitchen, to name a few. This was probably the best place we have ever rented.
Awesome cabin. Au Sable Acres is very relaxed and secluded. The lodge was very clean and well-supplied and the game room and movie theater in basement are a great bonus.
FYI, the wood staircase up to the 2nd level is beautiful, but could be hazardous for little kids (large openings / and slightly rounded top surface).
Would definitely come back to this cabin again. It's one of the nicest cabins in the Adirondacks for its size and price range.
What can I say but this cabin is absolutely gorgeous. As it is described and shown in the pictures is what you get and more. Property was very clean and tidy with lots of room to spread out and hang out! We had rain most of our stay but the fire stove and hot tub were great amenities. Beds were super comfortable too. The owner was very responsive to my emails. Can’t wait to book our next trip here at the gooseberry. Thanks you.
This home is well appointed and very clean. It has everything you need. When we booked the property it said a hot tub was available. However when we got our confirmation we were told the hot tub had been drained and not in use. So we were disappointed but oh well, everything else was wonderful and we made many Christmas memories. We will definitely come back.
Great house close to whiteface mountain and about 30 mins from lake placid. House is great for families with three sets of bunk beds, theater room, and games. We enjoyed the hot tub after our days of winter fun activities. Would def stay again.
This was an amazing property. It was peaceful, quiet, and had all the amenities needed to have a nice getaway in the Lake Placid area.
Communication with the property manager was quick and helpful.
The place was beautiful and perfect the family. Kids loved the basketball court. The hot tub was relaxing and fun at night. The wildlife was awesome. We had great horn owl make noise as we sat by the campfire. Heard howling the last night there. Really close to lake placid
We had a fantastic stay at the Gooseberry Lodge. The home and property were amazing. The accommodations were outstanding. The hot tub, outdoor fire pit, family room wood stove, and theater, made for an unforgettable stay. Everything about the home was first rate. We’ll be back for sure. Thank you!!!
The property is excellent for a large group. We spent four nights. The kitchen was well equipped — although the knives could have been sharper. Grocery stores are some distance — so it is good we planned ahead and brought groceries.
My son and his cousins used the home theater in the basement. We didn’t use the wood stove — but there was plenty of split wood. There is also an outdoor fire pit with chairs.
I will start with the Pros. This house is beautiful! It was well furnished with very comfy furniture and updated appliances. The back porch was perfect for my morning cup of coffee. The hot tub was nice but could have been hotter (just my preference). We enjoyed the fire pit as well. Lots of hiking and trails. The movie theater in the basement provided and awesome movie night with really nice surround sound. My family and I also enjoyed the table games in the loft. Now for the very few cons. The propane tank for the grill was empty, however when we contacted the owners, they said the caretaker would be over to deliver a new one. The caretaker arrived within 20 min with new tank. The chairs around the fire were covered in bird droppings when we arrived. The trash cans were tipped over and animals ripped open trash bags both mornings we were there. The garbage in the cans was from the previous visitors to the property so I ended up cleaning up someone else's trash. This last one is not the owners' fault, but I'd like to mention that every inch of the grass around the pond near the property was covered in goose droppings. It made it impossible to enjoy that open area and access to fishing. Overall, I would revisit this property again, but I do wish the cleaning fee that they charge wasn't so high.
